FX’s Dark New Sci-Fi Show Drops Grotesque New Look 2 Weeks Ahead of Release

Ryan Murphy has enjoyed a remarkably fruitful partnership with FX for over two decades, beginning with Nip/Tuck in 2003. He then created the long-running and popular American Horror Story in 2011, followed by other anthology series like American Crime Story, Feud, and American Horror Stories. Beyond these, Murphy has also developed full-length series such as Pose and Grotesquerie. His latest project is a new sci-fi horror series featuring Ashton Kutcher in an unexpected villainous role, alongside Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, Rebecca Hall, Isabella Rossellini, Bella Hadid, and frequent collaborator Evan Peters.

The new show, titled The Beauty, will premiere on FX and FX on Hulu with its first three episodes on January 21st. You can watch the trailer below to see if it’s a gripping story you’d enjoy. The series will have a total of 11 episodes, finishing up on March 4th.

What Is The Beauty About?

The comic book The Beauty, by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, is about a treatment that makes people incredibly attractive. However, it has dangerous and gruesome side effects, as shown in the trailer. These include bleeding from the eyes, faces dissolving, and extreme, violent rage – even turning people against celebrities like Meghan Trainor.

Ashton Kutcher stars as a wealthy tech CEO who’s rushing a new drug – secretly a treatment for a sexually transmitted infection – to market despite knowing it’s not safe. Rebecca Hall and Kyle Peters play FBI agents investigating deaths connected to the drug, nicknamed “the Beauty.” Danielle Pope has a secretive role, and Manny Ramos plays the Assassin, who works for the CEO.

Gigi Hadid appears in the trailer, but she’s just one of many well-known faces appearing in supporting roles. Other stars joining the show include Meghan Trainor, Ben Platt, Billy Eichner, Vincent D’Onofrio, Peter Gallagher, Nicola Peltz Beckham, Lux Pascal, John Carroll Lynch (known from American Horror Story), and Ari Graynor, who recently collaborated with the show’s creator on Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
