GOG is delisting two of the best indie games ever — buy them now before it’s too late

As a fan eagerly looking forward to expanding my indie game collection, I can’t help but share some exciting news! If you’ve been eyeing the enigmatic puzzle-platformers, Limbo and Inside, available on CD Projekt’s GOG storefront for PC games, now’s your chance to secure them. Unfortunately, these masterpieces developed by Playdead are set to be delisted from the platform on July 17th, 2025, at 3:00 PM CEST / 9:00 a.m. ET.

In Limbo, released in 2010, you’ll embark on a haunting journey alongside a young boy as he bravely navigates a mysterious forest filled with ominous shadows, all in search of his missing sister. On the other hand, Inside, launched in 2016, follows another courageous boy venturing through a chilling testing facility.

Both games have earned critical acclaim and are often hailed as some of the best indie games ever made. To avoid missing out on these gems, I strongly advise you to act swiftly if you’re planning to add them to your collection. It’s worth mentioning that Inside is currently on sale and can be purchased for just $2 on GOG, while Limbo will cost you $10 without a discount. So, don’t delay—grab ’em before they disappear from the digital shelves!

Why are Playdead’s games being delisted on GOG?

Playdead Studio is no longer available for purchase, but it’s unclear why this decision was made. This development comes at a time when co-founder Arnt Jensen is suing another co-founder, Dino Patti, who left Playdead in 2017 following the release of Inside. In 2017, Patti established his own studio, Jumpship, and released Somerville in 2022.

Jensen alleges that Patti has overstated his role in the development of Playdead’s games, while Patti counters that Jensen is attempting to downplay his contributions to those same titles. This dispute also arises as Playdead continues to work on a third game, which has been in development for nearly nine years since the release of Inside. Few details about this upcoming project have been revealed, but Playdead occasionally shares concept art to keep fans engaged.

An image shared by the studio back in December 2021 shows an astronaut on a mysterious snow-covered planet, suggesting that the setting for the new game might be something like this.

Currently, Playdead’s games are not being removed from Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or Steam, so for now, there are other ways to play them. However, the news that Limbo and Inside are being delisted on some platforms is concerning, given the ongoing legal issues. It’s possible that more removals might occur on other platforms in the near future. If you haven’t played these games yet, I strongly urge you to get both before anything unexpected happens.
