NEOWIZ, the developer of the popular game Lies of P, has several projects in the works, including a sequel. According to studio co-CEO Sean Kim, the company aims to establish several new successful game franchises over the next five to ten years, while also expanding the Lies of P universe with further installments.
Kim explained that the studio aims to create popular and enduring games that fans will enjoy for years to come. They’re currently working on over five new PC and console games internally, and also seeking out promising global franchises by partnering with studios like Zakazane and Wolfeye. The studio intends to keep investing in these kinds of strong international partnerships in the future.
We also want to showcase our selection of indie games from third-party developers, including several created by skilled Korean studios. Two recent titles, Shape of Dreams and SANABI, have been particularly well-received by both critics and players.
Kim addressed the many upcoming NEOWIZ projects, assuring everyone that they won’t abandon Lies of P. Instead, while continuing to support existing fans, the studio aims to attract a wider audience by exploring different game genres.
We don’t intentionally try to make games in lots of different genres. We carefully consider what we’re already good at and look for opportunities to create something we can really nail. Of course, we plan to continue the Lies of P series – that’s a certainty. But generally, we don’t start making a game by deciding on a genre first. We begin with the creative ideas of our game directors and focus on their vision, rather than a specific type of gameplay or concept.
NEOWIZ revealed its upcoming game releases in a presentation to investors last November. They announced four titles in development: Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe and Kill the Shadow, planned for release in the first six months of the year, and Goodbye Seoul: Itaewon and Kingdom 2, slated for release in the latter half of the year.
The presentation also covered plans for the next phase of development, which will build on the studio’s existing games. This includes a sequel to Lies of P, along with two new projects: a survival action adventure game and a life simulation game. All of these games are being developed internally. In addition, the studio intends to publish games from other developers, such as a retro sci-fi first-person RPG from Wolfeye Studios and a noir western CRPG from Zakazane Studio.
Although NEOWIZ hasn’t shared many specifics about Lies of P 2 yet, Kim mentioned that the development team at Round8 is enthusiastic and completely dedicated to the game’s creation.
