Good news for fighting game fans on Xbox and PC! HyperX just unveiled the Clutch Tachi, a new arcade controller with customizable RGB lighting, at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. While it’s impressive, most eyes are currently on HyperX’s stunning 34-inch, 360Hz curved QD-OLED monitor.
At first, it might seem like just a bunch of colorful buttons, but the name “leverless” gives it away – it doesn’t use a traditional joystick. It works a lot like the popular “Hit Box” controllers used by professional fighting game players, which use separate buttons for each direction of movement.
This setup gives you dedicated buttons for each action – moving backward, forward, jumping, and ducking. The benefit? Some challenging games need quick, precise movements that are hard to do with a joystick or arcade stick. It makes those fast actions much easier to execute.
The HyperX Clutch Tachi offers more than just a popular button design and colorful RGB lighting. It’s a feature-rich peripheral beyond its aesthetics.
Similar to how HyperX showcased customizable 3D-printed shells for their Pulsefire gaming mice at CES 2025, the Clutch Tachi features a removable top plate. You can easily swap it out with new designs downloaded from Printables.com.
Want to show off the colors of your favorite fighting game character’s clothes? You can print them! Or how about a huge Japanese character design inspired by a powerful villain from Street Fighter? You can print that as well.
The design includes ergonomic features like adjustable, non-slip legs and a wrist rest, but these are standard for this type of product.
HyperX hasn’t announced how much the Clutch Tachi will cost, so it’s hard to say if it’s a good value right now. However, it will work with Xbox, PC, and Linux – maybe even Tekken on the Steam Deck! – when it’s released. Just keep in mind it’s a wired controller that connects with a USB-C to USB-A cable.

I’m really interested, but price is a big factor for me. I usually only play fighting games casually, but I’ve always been curious about arcade-style controllers. I remember struggling to execute complex moves in games like Street Fighter and Tekken because of inaccurate stick inputs, and I think this controller could really help with that.
