Given its huge success – quickly becoming popular with multiplayer fans and selling over 12 million copies in a short time – it’s no surprise that ARC Raiders is getting interest from filmmakers and TV producers. Patrick Söderlund, CEO of Embark Studios, confirmed this in an interview with Dean Takahashi from GamesBeat (as reported by IGN).
He mentioned that many companies have contacted them with interest in turning their project into a TV show or movie.
Söderlund admits he’s considered offers to adapt the IP into a TV show or film, and finds the idea appealing. However, he’s taking a cautious approach, wanting to ensure any adaptation is done well. He also clarified that no one is currently working on such a project.
Things can change quickly, but the past couple of years have been great for video game adaptations into movies and TV shows. With huge hits like The Super Mario Bros. Movie (and its upcoming sequel), and popular series like HBO’s The Last of Us and Amazon’s Fallout, it seems likely that ARC Raiders will be adapted for the screen soon, too.
The game continues to improve with each update. Recent additions include the Stella Montis map and two new ARC Machines in North Line, and a new weather effect plus a special event in Cold Snap. Despite some issues like bugs and matchmaking problems, the game has managed to keep around 90% of its most active players on Steam.
