Over seven months, we’ll be diving deep into the original series, but not just what happens on screen. We’re going to explore the psychology behind Evangelion, really understanding the emotional impact and hidden meanings. And the best part? We’ll be using the work of Freud, Jung, and Lacan to unlock the secrets of NERV and the whole world they’ve built. It’s like a dream come true for any Evangelion fan who’s always wondered about the deeper layers!

I’m so excited for 2026 – even if we don’t have news of a totally new Evangelion anime series yet, it’s going to be huge for fans! Next month, from February 21st to 23rd, they’re holding “Evangelion: 30+; 30th Anniversary of Evangelion” at the Yokohama Arena in Japan. It’s not just a celebration with cool exhibits either – Studio Khara is making an original anime short specifically for the event! And get this – they’re even doing a kabuki performance to retell the story of NERV! It’s going to be amazing for any true enthusiast.

I’ve been following Hideaki Anno’s work for years, and honestly, he hasn’t given much indication he’d come back to Evangelion after the Rebuild films. But, good news! He did mention Studio Khara is working on something new, though what it is remains a total secret. Considering how conclusive both the original series and the Rebuild movies were, if they do make another anime, it’ll probably be a fresh start – a reboot, most likely.
