Xbox recently shared more information about its upcoming Developer Direct presentation, scheduled for January 22, 2026, at 1 PM Eastern Time. A new post on the Xbox Wire blog details what the show will cover, suggesting there won’t be many unexpected announcements.
The showcase will feature in-depth previews of both Fable and Forza Horizon 6. Plus, Game Freak, the studio behind Beast of Reincarnation, will be making a surprise appearance.
In addition to Fable, Xbox is focusing on providing more detailed looks at the development of Forza Horizon 6, recognizing that fans are eager for updates on both games.
What to expect on January 22

After years of work, this Developer Direct event appears to be Playground Games’ opportunity to showcase Fable and demonstrate that, despite the development time, the game still feels like the Fable fans know and love. They also want to confirm that the game is still on track to release this year.
Xbox plans to offer a much more detailed look at Forza Horizon 6, responding to feedback that the initial reveal at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show was too short and had already been seen online. This next showcase will give fans a proper look at the gameplay and how the game utilizes its highly anticipated Japan setting.
In addition to the two Playground Games titles, Xbox will offer a detailed look at Beast of Reincarnation, a new game from Game Freak that was first shown at the Xbox showcase in June 2025. This project is Game Freak’s most ambitious and modern game yet, demonstrating their talent beyond the Pokémon series. While the Pokémon franchise has faced some criticism for its graphics, many, including myself, prioritize gameplay. It’s exciting to see Game Freak exploring new creative avenues with this title.
Any other surprises?
It’s still unknown if the showcase will reveal anything beyond what’s already been announced, so you’ll need to watch it to find out. Xbox isn’t giving any clues about possible surprises, which makes sense – they want to keep them a secret!
Although I was hoping for more Halo news, Fable and Forza Horizon 6 definitely stood out as highlights. Even if nothing else is revealed, Xbox’s 25th anniversary year, 2026, is already looking promising, and you can find more details about what’s coming soon here.
