The announcement of the cast for season 3 of The Capture immediately raised eyebrows, as Paapa Essiedu’s name was missing.
I have to say, Chiwetel Ejiofor was fantastic in the second season of The Capture. Playing the politician Isaac Turner, he really drove the plot forward, subtly helping Rachel Carey – played by Holliday Grainger – uncover the truth about Correction. It’s exciting to see him taking on such complex roles, especially knowing he’ll be Severus Snape in the new Harry Potter series, and of course, fans will remember his powerful work in The Lazarus Project and I May Destroy You.
It wasn’t entirely surprising that Essiedu wouldn’t be back, considering Callum Turner, who starred in the first season, didn’t return for the second. The show appears to be moving towards a format where Carey will team up with a different male lead each season, and Killian Scott is expected to fill that role in season 3.
It’s now official: Essiedu is returning, and new photos have been released to confirm the news.

We’re getting fresh glimpses of stars like Grainger and Essiedu, along with Indira Varma (as BBC presenter Khadija Khan), Ben Miles (as Danny Hart), and Ron Perlman (as CIA agent Frank Napier).

Meanwhile, Hugh Quarshie is seen as his new character Commissioner Cameron Yates.

The show also welcomes back Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder as DI Nadia Latif, Nigel Lindsay as DSI Tom Kendricks, Tessa Wong as DC Chloe Tan, and Daisy Waterstone as Abigail Carey.
Joining Scott and Quarshie this season are several new actors, including Linus Roache as Colonel Figgis, and Jonathan Aris, Joe Dempsie, Andrew Buchan, and Amanda Drew, who will all be playing original characters.

Season 3, coming in spring 2026, picks up a year after Rachel Carey revealed a government minister’s deepfake on live television. This exposure brought to light ‘Correction,’ a secret program run by the UK intelligence service that manipulates video footage.
While under investigation for improper use of a police tool, Carey has been appointed Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command. She’s committed to rebuilding public confidence in surveillance technology with the launch of the new Operation Veritas camera system.

Then, suddenly, a shockingly well-planned terrorist attack strikes at the center of British power, leaving only one person to bear witness.
As Carey digs further into the case, she finds herself increasingly entangled in a major international crisis that reaches into the highest levels of British politics, intelligence, and the press.
This conspiracy goes very high up within the government, but the person truly in control remains a mystery. As the danger escalates and Carey’s trustworthy allies dwindle, how far will she go to survive?
