One-time PS4 exclusive Detroit: Become Human has now surpassed a remarkable 15 million sales.
It took seven years for the game, originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2018 and then on PC in 2019, to reach this achievement. Recent significant discounts on Steam during the holidays likely contributed to its success.
The game sold over a million copies during the holidays, especially with a record-low price of just $3.99 or £3.39. At that price, it was an easy purchase, and it led to the game having more players on Steam at the same time than ever before.
Quantic Dream’s David Cage said of the achievement:
Even seven years after it first came out, Detroit: Become Human is still popular, attracting new players worldwide. What started as a game exploring themes of choice, empathy, and what it means to be human has become a shared experience for over ten million people. The developers are incredibly thankful to the passionate community who embraced the story and continue to support it.
It’s been seven years since Quantic Dream last released a new original game, but they are still actively developing ‘Star Wars: Eclipse,’ a game based on the Star Wars franchise.
The company is also taking a risk and trying something new later this year with its online live service game, Spellcasters Chronicles.
