The first game launching directly into Xbox Game Pass is coming out tomorrow, and it’s a total surprise! Subscribers thought they’d have to wait until the end of the month for the first day-one release, but the official Game Pass account on X (formerly Twitter) just announced it’s coming much sooner.
Xbox recently announced on its social media channels that Quarantine Zone: The Last Check will be available to play on Xbox Game Pass starting day one. The game is scheduled to launch in about 24 hours, on January 12th, but there’s also a bit of disappointing news to share.
Bad News With the Xbox Game Pass Surprise
Good news for PC players! Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is now available. However, it’s currently only releasing on PC, so Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X users won’t be able to play it at launch. This means it’s only available through Xbox Game Pass for PC right now.
Okay, so this game, developed by Brigada Games and published by Devolver Digital, puts you right in the thick of a zombie apocalypse. I’m basically in charge of a crucial checkpoint – the last line of defense. My main job is deciding who gets inside the safe zone and who I have to leave to the zombies, which is tough! But it’s not just about making those hard calls. I also have to manage limited supplies, keep building up defenses, and keep the whole camp running smoothly. It’s a lot to handle, and things can go south fast if I don’t make the right decisions.
Devolver Digital is a prominent publisher of indie games, consistently releasing titles that are reliably good, though rarely exceptional. Brigada Games, on the other hand, is a new studio and this will be their first game, so there’s no previous work to gauge its quality.
The game’s price hasn’t been announced yet, so it’s unknown how much of a discount Xbox Game Pass members on PC will receive. However, a free demo is currently available on Steam.
So, that’s my take on things! I’m always up for hearing what you guys think, so definitely leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. Or, if you want to dive deeper, come chat with everyone over on the ComicBook Forum!
