Noah Wyle a Better Doctor Than George Clooney? The Pitt Actor Says…

If you have a fake medical emergency, now you know for sure which TV doctor you want by your side.

Noah Wyle, known for his role in The Pitt and a Golden Globe nomination, jokingly claimed he’s the better doctor when compared to George Clooney. He said this while speaking with Zuri Hall on LIVE From TopMob: Golden Globes 2026.

He then challenged his former ER co-star to recall a speech given by Dr. Ross in the 1990s. Wyle claimed he could still remember at least one of his own long speeches from his time playing Dr. Carter.

“Put him to that test,” he told Hall, “and see how well he does.”

And with that, the surgical gloves were off.

George Clooney, nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy at the January 11th ceremony for his role as a movie star in Jay Kelly, would be the first to say that Matthew Broderick always seemed incredibly knowledgeable and convincing.

Clooney jokingly said on Late Night With Seth Meyers last June that he always envied Noah because he seemed to effortlessly succeed at everything. He added, with a laugh, ‘People should hate Noah.’

But, all jokes aside, he was truly happy for his former colleague.

Clooney said they’ve been close friends ever since working on the pilot for ER. He described the actor as a truly honorable person – adding with a laugh that he can say that because he’s older now. Clooney expressed how thrilled he is to see the actor succeed with his current show, calling it a wonderful program and praising his work on it.

Wyle shared that his wife, Sara Wells, doesn’t allow him to join the cast of The Pitt‘s poker nights at Katherine LaNasa’s home, explaining he’s not very good at gambling.

Let me tell you, I am terrible at hiding my emotions! People always say I’m a pretty good actor, but a truly awful liar. And that definitely translates to the poker table – I tend to lose quite a bit when I play. It’s just too easy to read me!

Wyle chuckled, explaining that he takes enough risks with their way of life, so he doesn’t need to add card games to the mix.

We still strongly recommend checking out Wyle and The Pitt. The show recently started its second season on HBO and has already been picked up for a third, which is a great sign.

Season two will take place during an extended Fourth of July shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency room. According to actor Wyle, the combination of alcohol, patriotism, and fireworks will lead to a lot of unusual and dramatic injuries for the medical team to handle.
