Nicole Kidman’s AMC Ad Gets Hilarious Parody at Golden Globes

We come to the Golden Globes for humor.

That’s precisely the approach Nikki Glaser took while hosting the awards show at the Beverly Hilton hotel on January 11th – for the second time. It led her to playfully imitate Nicole Kidman’s famous AMC Theaters commercial when announcing the very first Best Podcast award.

She began, wearing the gray and silver suit Nicole was known for, by saying that people turn to their cars for podcasts because of the unique feeling that comes with pressing play and starting a new episode. It’s something everyone can relate to.

Instead of the podcast episode starting, Nikki was interrupted by an ad that she tried, but failed, to skip.

Nikki playfully poked fun at several nominated podcasts—including Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Smartless, The Mel Robbins Podcast, and Up First—by sharing short, humorous clips from their episodes.

Amy Poehler asked Gwyneth Paltrow what time she usually eats dinner. Paltrow replied that she ate at 5:45 PM the night before.

“Incredible,” Amy reacted, with Gwyneth agreeing, “I know.”

Nikki then ended her AMC bit with the tagline, “Podcasts: They’re just what we have now.”

The crowd roared with laughter as Snoop Dogg came onstage to award the very first Golden Globe for Best Podcast, and the winner was Good Hang with Amy Poehler.

Amy started her acceptance speech by expressing her excitement, saying, “This is exactly what I imagined—Snoop Dogg handing me the award!” She then jokingly added, “Award shows can be unpredictable, but when they nail it, it feels right.”

The Saturday Night Live alum also used her speech to acknowledge her fellow nominees.

She added that she was new to the competition, but she had a lot of respect for the event itself and for everyone she was nominated alongside.

Amy said she loved everyone in the audience, with one funny exception: NPR. She joked that it seemed like they just had celebrities reading scripts without much effort, and encouraged them to put more work into it.

In the end, though, she explained the heartbeat behind her podcast.

As someone who’s always believed in the power of positivity, I’m thrilled to be creating things that bring a little more joy and connection into what can often feel like a harsh world. It’s about finding the humor with people, not at their expense. Honestly, we have a blast making these things, and I’m so grateful for the support that allows us to keep doing it!
