Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers May Get 2 GameCube Classics in February

Nintendo Switch Online members might receive two GameCube games in February to mark a special event. Last week, Nintendo added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to the service, which is significant because it came before the planned 2026 release of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. While the February lineup isn’t confirmed, it’s likely Nintendo will offer multiple new GameCube titles for subscribers.

When Nintendo first announced GameCube games would be added to the Switch Online service, they shared a list of titles to expect. Now, all but two of those games have been released: Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. These two Pokemon games, originally released on GameCube in 2004 and 2005, are fan favorites, and players are excited about the possibility of playing them again on Switch. It’s likely both games will be available soon.

February Could Be Big for Pokemon GameCube Games

If you didn’t know, Pokémon Day is coming up next month on February 27th! It’s a yearly celebration of everything Pokémon, and marks the anniversary of the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue games first being released in Japan. 2026 will be the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, so we can expect some extra special events and announcements this year.

The Pokemon Company is planning a new presentation on Pokemon Day to reveal upcoming games and projects. Many fans are hoping to see announcements for Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness being added to the Switch Online service, and some speculate they could even be released on the same day. This would likely make Pokemon fans very happy and could attract more people to subscribe to Switch Online.

Releasing both Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness on Nintendo Switch Online at the same time would be a change of pace. So far, Nintendo has added GameCube games to the service one at a time, making this a slightly surprising possibility if it happens.

Honestly, it’s not surprising to see Nintendo and The Pokémon Company doing this. We’ll likely see one classic GameCube game added to Nintendo Switch Online in February, and the other in March. Ideally, though, Nintendo will release both games at the same time next month.
