Thanks to strong word-of-mouth, it sold almost 2 million copies in just three months, quickly becoming a top seller.

One of the things that makes Dispatch so well-regarded is its skillful combination of storytelling and strategy gameplay, along with its engaging characters. The game’s unique release schedule – with episodes spaced a week apart – added to the experience, making it feel like a compelling TV series and rewarding players for waiting. Honestly, as a huge fan, I’m with everyone else – eight episodes just weren’t enough! So many of us are already asking AdHoc Studios for more, hoping they’ll make Season 2, 3, or even further! It seems totally possible though, which is awesome. Dispatch is still getting amazing reviews on Steam – like, 96% positive! – and tons of people are playing it. Plus, it’s only $30, and they seem like they could create new seasons pretty quickly. There’s really no reason not to get more content, and I’m really hoping they do!

Every Choice Creating Your Personal Story Might Be Hard To Maintain

The biggest challenge for a second season of Dispatch is figuring out how to continue each player’s unique story. The simplest solution is to let players carry over their progress from Season 1, preserving all the important choices they made. This includes things like who they romanced – Invisigal or Blonde Blazer – and which characters they recruited to Z-Team, like Phenomaman or Waterboy. If AdHoc Studios wants to keep the story of Dispatch going for a long time without starting over, they might need to make some difficult decisions. To avoid resetting the story, they may have to limit player choices a bit, guiding the narrative in a consistent direction. They might also need to establish certain fixed events – even if fans would prefer different outcomes – to make it manageable to create future seasons.

Limiting player choices could upset fans who enjoy creating unique, personal stories. Important elements like character deaths and romantic relationships might be predetermined to keep the game manageable. While the game Dispatch already has some of these restrictions – specifically around who you can romance or remove from the Z-Team – those aspects have received criticism. Players likely wouldn’t want to see even fewer options in a potential Dispatch 2 or any future installments.
