Why Katherine Schwarzenegger & Chris Pratt Got a Step-Parenting Coach

Katherine Schwarzenegger is changing the evil stepmother narrative.  

In her journey of building a relationship with her 12-year-old stepson Jack, who shares this bond with husband Chris Pratt from his previous relationship with Anna Faris, the 35-year-old has disclosed that she relies on a secret asset to strive to be the best stepmother possible: a step-parenting coach.

When we got engaged, Katherine (who married the Guardians of the Galaxy actor in 2019) explained during an interview on the Parenting & You With Dr. Shefali podcast, I realized it was right. It’s been incredibly beneficial for me, and I’ve gained a deeper understanding of my role as a step-parent.

Certainly, the author of “The Gift of Forgiveness,” who is a mother to Lyla (age 4), Eloise (age 2), and Ford (8 months) alongside Chris, underscored that her coach has provided valuable guidance on fostering healthy communication with Jack while also considering herself in the role of a stepmother.

She pointed out that just as there’s no guide for parenting, step-parenting also lacks a manual. Being in both the parent and step-parent roles gives her a unique perspective. Step-parenting can be perplexing because you aren’t a traditional parent, nor are you a nanny or an assistant. Instead, you have duties that encompass all these roles, but without fully embodying any of them.

For his part, Chris has acknowledged just how difficult being a step-parent can be.

The 46-year-old remarked that the job was quite challenging, likening it to motion-capture acting where an actor wears sensors to record movements before animation takes place. In essence, parenting is similar because, despite the significant contributions made, often the recognition doesn’t come.

Kids are unique individuals, each following their own journey,” he explained further. “Many times, they’re grappling with the reality of being from a divorced family. When someone steps in to provide structure and hold them accountable, even if they’re not biologically related, it can sometimes feel unappreciated. However, this role is incredibly significant.

Apart from gaining advice on improving her role as a stepmother from her mentor, Katherine enthusiastically shared her experiences of learning a great deal from her parents, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

She revealed that she relies on her mother for everything. She confides in her about everything, discussing various aspects of her life such as being a wife, a mom, and a stepsister. She talks to her about the intricacies of each role.

She’s an incredibly wise source I’ve been fortunate to know,” she remarked. ” frankly, I learn so much from observing her actions.

Back in June 2018, I was beyond thrilled to hear an inside scoop from TopMob News. They shared a juicy tidbit about none other than Chris Pratt being smitten with Katherine Schwarzenegger. To make my heart skip a beat, they also mentioned that our beloved Jurassic World star was over the moon, absolutely elated about the budding romance between them!

The couple elevated their relationship by spending time with the Schwarzenegger family. It was later discovered that Katherine’s mother, Maria Shriver, acted as a matchmaker upon meeting Chris at church.

By September 2018, Katherine was hanging out with the Jurassic World star’s family and friends.

The couple were all smiles during their outing Chris’ brother Cully Pratt.

In December of 2018, Chris titled a collection of new photos with the message: “Happy Birthday, Boss! Your smile makes any space feel brighter. Our time spent together has been precious to me. I’m overjoyed that fate brought you into my life. Grateful for the laughter, affection, conversations, hikes, love, and care.

In January 2019, Chris proposed to Katherine while they were in Montecito, California, and they made their engagement public at that time.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Avengers: Endgame in April 2019, they walked their first official red-carpet event together as a romantic pair.

On June 2019, Katherine and Chris got married in an illustrious event held at the picturesque San Ysidro Ranch, located in Montecito, California.

Notable attendees were Arnold Schwarzenegger (Katherine’s father), James Gunn (director of Guardians of the Galaxy), and Rob Lowe, who previously starred with Chris on Parks and Recreation.

During the pandemic, the two of them stayed together, with the Marvel actor charmingly interrupting one of the writer’s cooking videos.

Back in April 2020, we at TopMob News found out that Katherine was expecting their first child as a couple.

In an Instagram post from August 2020, the happy couple announced the arrival of their daughter, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt. They expressed their immense joy and stated that both mother and child are in good health. They feel incredibly fortunate.

Katherine shared this photo of her husband in June 2021.

In December 2021, news broke that Chris and Katherine were expecting their second baby together.

The duo welcomed daughter Eloise Christina Schwarzenegger Pratt on May 21, 2022. 

A day after making an announcement, they joyfully shared the news that their second daughter had been born. Both mother and child are in good health. Overwhelmed with gratitude, we are incredibly blessed. With love, Katherine and Chris.

In November 2024, they welcomed another child into their family – a son named Ford Fitzgerald Schwarzenegger Pratt.
