Adam Driver became a well-known actor in the 2010s, and his career has had its share of successes and disappointments. He’s achieved major recognition for roles like the villain Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels and has even received multiple Oscar nominations. He’s also worked with acclaimed directors on popular films like Inside Llewyn Davis, Logan Lucky, and The Last Duel. While not every project has been a hit, one of his earlier films is now available for viewers to enjoy on streaming services.
The sci-fi movie 65, starring Adam Driver, is currently performing well on HBO Max. According to streaming data from FlixPatrol, it’s the fifth most popular title, behind films like John Wick and One Battle After Another. It’s even beating out several well-known movies, including three Twilight films and Constantine.
65 Bombed at the Box Office, but Is Worth Watching on HBO Max

The movie 65 featured a lot of striking images of Adam Driver as a futuristic character armed with sci-fi weapons, being chased by dinosaurs. It might seem like a time travel story, but 65 offers a unique take on the dinosaur genre. As the title indicates, the film is set 65 million years in the past. Driver plays Mills, a pilot from a highly advanced alien civilization who crash-lands on prehistoric Earth while on a mission to earn money for his daughter’s medical care. He then has to fight to survive. Despite this interesting concept, 65 didn’t connect with viewers and received largely negative reviews (36% on Rotten Tomatoes), earning only $60 million worldwide.
Despite the mixed initial reaction, HBO Max subscribers should still consider watching 65. Adam Driver is a major draw – he consistently delivers strong performances, and this film is no different. He approaches the story with the seriousness it deserves, helping viewers connect with his character’s journey. While 65 doesn’t offer a groundbreaking story, it remains compelling thanks to the relatable situation and Driver’s performance. The film also features a heartwarming connection between Driver’s character and Koa, played by Ariana Greenblatt; their developing father-daughter relationship adds emotional depth to the story.
Adam Driver proves he’s a well-rounded actor in 65, seamlessly handling the film’s action scenes. Fans of his work as Kylo Ren in Star Wars won’t be surprised – he’s clearly capable in action roles. His military background likely contributes to this skill, cementing him as a strong action lead. 65 also incorporates horror, which makes sense considering it’s written by the team behind A Quiet Place. The film effectively builds tension and fear as the characters navigate a terrifying world filled with dinosaurs, creating some truly suspenseful and frightening moments.
You know, it’s funny – 65 has actually done really well on streaming a couple of times now. It was number one on Netflix’s most-watched list back in 2023, which proves there is an audience for it. I always thought the bad buzz might have hurt it in theaters – that low Rotten Tomatoes score probably made a lot of people hesitant to spend money on a ticket. But it’s a pattern we see all the time: it’s so much easier to convince someone to just hit play at home. So, it doesn’t really shock me that 65 is doing well on another streaming platform.
