Vanderpump Rules’ Lala Kent Suffers “Oozing” Boils All Over Her Body

Lala Kent was served a nasty reaction all over her body.

The former Vanderpump Rules star revealed she worried she had a bacterial infection after noticing small, bite-like marks on her chest and back when she woke up one morning.

Lala explained to her mom, Lisa Burningham, on her podcast Untraditionally Lala that she noticed a strange spreading sensation all over her body. She initially wondered if she’d accidentally brought a sand mite back from a trip to Hawaii.

Lala’s mother described the numerous marks on her 35-year-old daughter as severe, noting they were becoming larger and increasingly itchy.

It all started, I think, on a Saturday. By Monday, it was awful – I was completely covered in these incredibly gross boils, from my neck all the way down to my ankles. Honestly, they were just… terrible.

The reality star noticed the painful boils were getting bigger and even started to leak fluid, so she went to the hospital.

She described her confusion, saying she felt like the first person affected. She went to the emergency room and was shocked when a healthcare worker entered wearing a full hazmat suit, and that no one would come near her unless they were completely covered up.

Lala, who has two daughters – 4-year-old Ocean and 15-month-old Sosa – was tested for several infections, including chickenpox, monkeypox, and staph infections, but all the tests were negative.

As the star of The Valley remembered, doctors told them to see a dermatologist right away, explaining that skin specialists would be best equipped to help. They added, reassuringly, that they were simply making sure the situation wasn’t life-threatening.

For a moment, Lala wondered if that could actually be happening. Her doctor took a small tissue sample from a prominent bump on her arm and sent it to a lab for testing. While they waited for the results, she was prescribed two steroid creams, an antibiotic, and a steroid pill.

Lala said the biopsy results showed it was likely a rare reaction to an insect bite.

The Bravo star was even more shocked to learn that a friend experienced the very same reaction to bug bites after returning from a tropical trip.

I’m telling you,” Lala added, “I was scarred.”

Still, she did find the silver lining: the boils had thankfully not spread to her face.

She explained she’d been saying, “It’s good I won’t die,” but admitted she was mostly focused on how it looked to others.

Lala isn’t the only celebrity who’s faced a frightening health issue. Here’s what other stars have shared about their own experiences with illness.

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest during a wrestling match with Piper Niven in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that once her divorce was finalized and she retired from her current work, she’d return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best. She wanted to be ready for future opportunities and didn’t want the current state of things to hold them back.

Oh my gosh, I was so worried when I found out Lupita Nyong’o had uterine fibroids back in 2014! It’s just these non-cancerous growths that happen in or around the uterus, but still! And it was the same year she won her Oscar for 12 Years a Slave! Can you believe it? She was dealing with that and still absolutely killed it, winning an Academy Award! It just makes me admire her even more.

I was absolutely devastated when she finally shared what she’d been going through! For over ten years, she’d been battling this in secret, suffering silently, and then, in 2025, she bravely opened up on Instagram. It broke my heart knowing she’d carried that burden for so long.

She explained that growing up, many girls are told that periods are supposed to be painful and that this pain is just something women have to deal with. This often leads to women suffering in silence with something that’s a common experience.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she had been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “You haven’t tweeted in a while!” Suki replied, jokingly, “Have you thought maybe I wore pants so tight six months ago that I got a hernia and have been afraid to mention it?”

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.

Okay, so, I was completely freaking out when I saw Brian’s Instagram video. He said he’d been having stomach pain last week, and ended up in the ER! Apparently, his appendix wasn’t quite burst, but it was so close – like, perforated but not fully ruptured? Honestly, I was a mess watching it, just so worried about him. It was scary!

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

A Racing Louisville soccer player fell to the ground shortly after the start of her team’s game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player sat down on the field with a teammate supporting her, and then quickly collapsed. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.

Savannah was given immediate medical attention on the field and then taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck at age 11 continue to cause him problems even now.

“It’s been a really difficult time,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors actually told me last year that my condition was life-threatening.”

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite working as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.

I was sharing on my podcast recently how bizarre my recovery has been. I still get tingling sensations down to my toes, and honestly, it’s pretty wild. To give you some context, just a few weeks ago I was comfortably squatting almost 300 pounds. Now? I can barely stand on one foot, let alone do a squat. It feels…off, like something’s not right, almost like I’ve had a stroke. It’s a really strange experience and a reminder that things can change so quickly.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted on social media to explain he had food poisoning and was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday outing with her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone else at a party. They fired a weapon unsafely, and she was hit five times, with one bullet narrowly missing her right eye. @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, evaluating her injuries and immediately taking her to the hospital.

The Kim Possible actress explained that a small piece of something got stuck behind her eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll continue to check her vision, which is currently normal.

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, emphasizing how quickly life can change. She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever possible, as life is precious and can be altered in an instant.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her figure out what was wrong with her health. After noticing she looked “puffier,” she was surprised to see doctors commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome – a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted her to realize she’d been getting steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She wouldn’t have connected the dots without the online feedback. Thankfully, doctors determined she had a type of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which she called “the greatest news imaginable.” She shared this relief in a February 2024 newsletter, thankful to be healthy.

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially struggling to respond when Justin noticed something was wrong. She couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop, but these symptoms eventually passed.

After going to the hospital, doctors discovered Hailey had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further testing at UCLA revealed she had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO).

The blood clot had traveled to her heart, passed through the hole, and reached her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but assuring everyone he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered from a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could take aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

He initially saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she temporarily stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but she then saw light, leading her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and becoming violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, struggling to speak coherently.

After a week, her speech returned, and she was discharged from the hospital a month later. However, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown, requiring a second surgery. This surgery was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia says she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she experienced a stroke in January 2024. She immediately contacted them, sending a text message and photo, and they quickly came to her aid, as she told TopMob News in December 2024. While she could have been discharged after the stroke, existing health issues – including lupus and kidney problems – required a longer hospital stay. Cori is now recovering well, stating she’s “doing great” and has been working to regain some motor skills. She’s thankful for her family’s quick response and support during a challenging time.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue – unable to walk for more than five minutes without needing to rest for hours – and persistent stomach pain. She faced a confusing array of diagnoses and conflicting advice from different doctors.

Determined to find answers, Woodley, who comes from a holistic health background and studies herbalism, sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for well-being spanned a decade.

She explained that the physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body.

Ultimately, Woodley’s health improved. “It was a journey that physically resolved itself, and I am very healthy,” she shared, expressing her gratitude for her recovery.
