A recent teaser for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday gave fans a glimpse of classic X-Men characters, including Magneto. Evan Peters, who previously played Magneto’s son, Peter Maximoff (Quicksilver), in the X-Men films, has said he’d like to explore the father-son relationship with Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Peters’ Quicksilver was known for his comedic timing, even appearing as “Ralph Bohner” in WandaVision, and he hopes to portray a more grounded and realistic dynamic if he returns. Fans can see Peters next in FX’s The Beauty, premiering January 21st.
In an interview with MovieWeb, Evan Peters shared that he enjoyed the opportunity to develop his character’s dynamic with Magneto, and confirmed:
That sounds fantastic! I’d really enjoy exploring that character and making them feel more realistic – giving a more grounded take on the classic Quickie.
It’s interesting to note that Julia Peters appears in The Beauty alongside Rebecca Hall, who fans may remember as Maya Hansen from Iron Man 3. Even though her character died in that film, the Marvel Cinematic Universe now explores the idea of the Multiverse, which could potentially bring Hall back. When asked about this possibility, Hall playfully responded, “Oh, that’s right, with the Multiverse, Maya Hansen could return.”
The MCU Has Limitless Potential for Crossovers

20th Century Fox
To avoid going bankrupt in the 1990s, Marvel Comics licensed the rights to many of its characters to 20th Century Fox. This eventually led to the first live-action X-Men movie in 2000. While X-Men did reasonably well, it showed studios that these characters were popular with audiences. The 2002 Spider-Man film then became a huge hit, proving that Marvel characters could succeed on the big screen. However, because of these licensing agreements, characters owned by Fox and Marvel Studios couldn’t appear in each other’s movies. This meant that some characters, like Quicksilver, were played by different actors – Evan Peters in the Fox films and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Marvel Studios projects.
When Disney bought Fox, it opened the door for almost all of Marvel’s popular characters to appear together in films and TV shows. For example, Evan Peters’ unexpected appearance in WandaVision as Ralph Bohner was a subtle way to suggest characters from the Fox-owned Marvel properties without officially making them part of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. Films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Deadpool & Wolverine really explored the idea of the multiverse, and now Avengers: Doomsday will combine established actors with new faces. Several former X-Men stars, including James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and Kelsey Grammer, are confirmed to be in Doomsday, although Evan Peters hasn’t yet said whether he’ll appear in that film or in Avengers: Secret Wars.
