It’s no surprise that superhero fans are incredibly excited about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. They’re eagerly following every update, even watching live streams counting down the months until its release. While the filmmakers claim they aren’t releasing teasers or trailers, fans are already anticipating much more in 2026.
As a lifelong cinema fan, I remember being genuinely surprised back in September 2025 when Marvel Studios really shook things up with their animation. For the first time, they embraced a darker, more mature style – the kind we’d previously only seen in shows like Spawn or from smaller, independent studios. It felt like they finally understood what animated series fans had been craving.
Everyone agrees that Marvel Zombies was a huge hit, but Marvel Studios hadn’t confirmed a second season, despite it being their most-watched show. Now, Brad Winderbaum, who leads Marvel’s TV and animation departments, has firmly stated that a second season is definitely happening, putting any worries about it being cancelled to rest.
During a presentation led by Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios confirmed they are moving forward with a second season of Marvel Zombies. Winderbaum revealed the news, and considering Marvel Zombies is their only animated superhero series featuring undead characters, it’s safe to say Season 2 is officially in development for Disney+.
Marvel Zombies has earned its dedicated fanbase, and they certainly deserve this series. Originally conceived as a two-hour film, Disney+ and Kevin Winderbaum ultimately chose to release it as a four-part miniseries.
Marvel Zombies Even Proved Stephen King Wrong
Whether watched all at once or in parts, the show broke new ground for Marvel animation. Driven by Scarlet Witch and her team of Zombie Avengers, it delivered intense action, graphic violence, and shocking brutality as they clashed with Spider-Man, Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Blade, the Watcher (Uatu), and the Infinity Hulk in an epic fight to determine the fate of reality.
As a huge film fan, I found it really interesting how far some superhero movies are willing to go. Take the ‘Zombie Avengers’ for example – it got pretty graphic, with zombies actually eating people, and Spider-Man shockingly using his webs to, well, remove heads! It’s ironic because the director, King, pointed out something I’ve noticed for ages: these films show villains demolishing entire cities, but you never see any real consequences – no blood, no actual impact of the violence. It’s like they’re afraid to show gore, even when the destruction is massive.
He would dismiss the idea completely, adding with obvious disdain, “That’s just wrong. If you can’t even demonstrate it, don’t bother mentioning it.”
It seems Marvel Zombies unexpectedly became a hit, even surprising the creator! And that’s great news for fans – because more Marvel Zombies content is on the way!
All four episodes of Marvel Zombies is currently streaming on Disney+.
