‘Ted’ Season 2 Trailer Revealed Ahead of Peacock Streaming Return

Peacock has unveiled a new trailer for the second season of Ted. The series, created by Seth MacFarlane and based on his 2012 movie, is a prequel set in the 1990s. It follows the story of the talking teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) as he navigates high school life with his best friend, John (Max Burkholder), and John’s family in Boston. The show also stars Scott Grimes (known from American Dad) and Alanna Ubach (Legally Blonde) as John’s parents, Matty and Susan, and Giorgia Whigham (13 Reasons Why) as John’s cousin, Blaire.

The latest trailer hints at more hilarious adventures with Ted and John, who is now a high school senior. A big surprise is the appearance of Brennan Lee Mulligan, known for Dropout and Dimension 20, who will play a Dungeon Master in an episode based on Dungeons & Dragons. All eight episodes of the new season will be available on March 5, 2026. After the trailer was released, creator Seth MacFarlane and co-showrunners Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh shared a statement saying:

We’re thrilled to announce a second season of our show, Ted! These new episodes are the result of incredible teamwork from our writers, actors, and crew – especially the visual effects team, who do an amazing job bringing Ted to life.

We created eight episodes that are a little bit naughty, hopefully hilarious, and surprisingly touching. They follow a young man, his talking teddy bear, and his wonderfully messed-up family. If you don’t love the show, we have a suggestion: play all the episodes on repeat, on every device in your house. That’ll really let us know what you think!

Warmly,

-Seth, Paul and Brad

Will ‘Ted’ Season 2 Be the Last?

The first Ted movie came out on June 29, 2012, and was a huge success, earning $218 million in the US and $549 million around the world. The sequel, Ted 2, followed in 2015, but didn’t perform as well, making $215 million worldwide – less than the original film made domestically. Despite this, the studio believed in the Ted brand and released Season 1 on the Peacock streaming service on January 11, 2024, nine years later.

Peacock isn’t just making a live-action Ted show—they’ve also greenlit an animated series! Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as the voice of adult John in Ted: The Animated Series. It’s currently unknown whether the animated show will be a prequel to the first Ted movie or a continuation of the story after Ted 2. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, the showrunners for the live-action Ted series, will be executive producers on the animated version.

Some believe the animated Ted series was created to replace the live-action Ted show. Although the live-action series quickly became Peacock’s most popular original show, the high cost of creating a series with a completely computer-generated main character may have been unsustainable. There’s currently no news about a third season of the live-action Ted. Like other popular shows such as Fallout and Percy Jackson & the Olympians, which saw drops in viewers for their second seasons, Ted could also experience a decline in popularity, or it might surprisingly continue to grow its audience.
