Whitney Adebayo is back on Love Island! She’s getting another shot at finding love when the All Stars season finally premieres tonight, January 15th, after a short postponement.
She became popular with viewers after joining Love Island as a new contestant in 2023, quickly gaining attention for her witty comments and a memorable performance in the show’s talent competition. It was during this season that she met Lochan Nowacki, who also arrived as a new contestant during the Casa Amor portion of the show.
They quickly became a couple and finished second on the show, so fans were surprised when, after nearly two years together, they announced their breakup.
Lochan is now dating someone new, and Whitney is joining the show, excited to spend her days in a bikini, meeting new people, and enjoying a carefree time to escape everyday life.
It seems like something is always happening! And it’s rare for people to truly disconnect and take a significant break from everything – especially to do it twice!
What caused Whitney and Lochan to split up, and what have they shared about their breakup? Here’s the story.
What happened between Whitney and Lochan and why did they break up?
Whitney and Lochan quickly became popular contestants on Love Island in 2023. However, after nearly two years, they announced their breakup in April 2025.
Whitney announced on Instagram that she and Lochan have broken up. She expressed gratitude for all the support they received during their relationship.
Lochan shared the same statement to his Instagram Stories.
On her podcast, Whitney suggested her breakup with Lochan happened because they weren’t able to find middle ground on things – essentially, one or both weren’t willing to compromise.
Okay, so in the movie, the actress playing this character recounts a really painful moment with her ex. He basically showed up unexpectedly and, instead of having a conversation, just pointed out all the ways she’d supposedly changed. It felt less like a breakup talk and more like an accusation, and honestly, it was super awkward to watch. It really set a tense mood for the rest of the scene.
Whitney remembered telling her, “I’ve noticed how much you’ve grown, and you’re turning into the person we always believed you could be. But I’m not okay with that.”
She added: “I was bamboozled. This is the person that you told me you wanted.”
Three months after their breakup, Whitney posted a TikTok revealing she had fallen in love with the qualities she once disliked in her ex.
The reported comment sparked guesses among fans about who Whitney was talking about, and Lochan later said he hadn’t made the statement.
He stated in a TikTok video that he has never and would never call anyone’s skin dirty.
Lochan described an incident that happened about a year into his relationship with Whit. They were walking near his apartment when Whit, showing off her freshly done nails, playfully but irritatingly held them in his face, repeatedly saying how clean they were and implying his weren’t. He simply responded, ‘No, they’re not’.
I was mostly just irritated that she was waving her hands so close to my face. It was a spontaneous reaction, and I simply said, ‘No, they’re not.’ She seemed really shocked and immediately asked if I was implying she was unclean.
He was really surprised and hurt by the accusation. He explained that it felt especially insulting because his girlfriend, who knows him well and trusts him, accused him of racism, claiming he was saying her skin tone was undesirable.

After Lochan posted the video, Whitney explained what happened from her perspective. She said they were walking back to his place after lunch, and she playfully pointed out how her skin was glowing in the sun. But she was upset because Lochan responded by saying it just looked dirty.
“And then only when I lashed out, he was like, ‘It was a joke, it was a joke’. And he was crying.”
The Sun reported that Lochan sued Whitney, and he later explained he felt he had no other option.
Recent online posts have contained false and damaging statements about me, my family, and my friends. I hoped to resolve this privately, but unfortunately, I felt I had no other option than to take further steps.
I took this action not to harm Whitney, but to protect myself and my family from significant damage to our reputation. Let me be clear: I completely deny and reject the false information circulating online about us.
I don’t want to drag this out any longer. I just want to end things and go our separate ways.

When Lochan announced he was suing, Whitney’s representative stated that Whitney had hired her own lawyers and strongly believed she would win. They confirmed they would strongly fight any lawsuit filed by Mr. Nowacki.
Last month, The Sun reported that the two parties had resolved their legal issues and reached an agreement.
I was really surprised to hear about this! When reporters asked Whitney about a supposed court case before the new All-Stars season, she said it was completely news to her. She’s been super focused on building her businesses – her hair company and her podcast – and hadn’t even known about any legal issues. It sounds like it really came out of nowhere for her.
