What happened between Millie Court and Liam Reardon and why did they split up?

Love Island: All Stars is returning for a third season, and the lineup of 12 familiar faces is now set. Millie Court is among the contestants joining the show.

Millie originally found fame on Love Island in 2021, winning the series with Liam Reardon. They quickly became fan favorites and one of the show’s most popular couples.

Things didn’t work out for the winning couple from Love Island, as they split up not once, but twice.

With Millie Court returning to the Love Island villa for the All Stars edition in South Africa, many are curious about what led to her breakup with Liam. Let’s take a look at what happened between them.

What happened between Millie and Liam and why did they break up?

Liam was one of the original contestants on Love Island’s seventh season in 2021. Millie joined the show a few days later as a new arrival. They stayed together as a couple for the entire season, despite Liam briefly kissing another contestant, Lillie Haynes, while at Casa Amor. Millie accepted his apology, and ultimately they won the show and shared the £50,000 prize.

After leaving the villa, Millie and Liam’s relationship blossomed. They were frequently seen together at events, often shared photos of each other online, and quickly started living together at their home in Essex.

Millie first announced the breakup in July 2022, about a year after she and her partner met on Love Island.

I was really sad to see Millie post on Instagram that she and Liam are splitting up. She said they still care for each other deeply, but they both need to focus on themselves and grow as individuals right now. It sounds like a mature decision, even though it’s definitely a bummer.

Liam shared a message on Instagram explaining that he and Millie had broken up on good terms. He said he’ll always support her and believes she’ll continue to be successful.

We’re both looking forward to the future and are thrilled about what comes next. I just want to express my gratitude to everyone for the amazing support you’ve given us throughout this incredible experience.

Liam moved back to Wales, leaving the house he shared with Millie in Essex. Millie continued living there until late 2022, when she moved in with another Love Island contestant, Chloe Burrows.

Liam recently shared his feelings about the split, explaining in an Instagram Q&A that breakups are tough, but even harder when you’re in the public eye. He added that rumors and unfair judgment make the situation even more difficult, especially when they’re based on false information.

He explained that when you face setbacks, you have a choice: you can give in to them, or you can find a way to recover, learn from the experience, and keep going. He said that’s the path he’s choosing now.

Did Millie and Liam get back together?

Honestly, I thought Liam and Millie were done when he went on Celebs Go Dating and she started hanging out with George from Gogglebox. But then, out of nowhere in 2023 – about nine months after they split – they started seeing each other again. It was a total surprise!

The couple were first seen together on a trip to the Lake District, where they picked up a pizza. Then, in May 2023, a singer on a cruise ship posted a selfie with them, writing that Liam and Millie, winners of Love Island, were enjoying a cruise around Europe and were “lovely people.” This seemed to confirm they had rekindled their relationship.

Instead of officially announcing they were back together, the couple quietly started appearing at events and sharing photos as a couple on social media.

Liam and Millie started a podcast together in October 2024, where they discussed their lives and relationship with each other.

Liam continued to live in Wales while Millie stayed in Essex. After another two and a half years together, they split up again in September 2025, primarily because the distance between them was too difficult to manage.

Millie and Liam never publicly discussed their split. According to a source who spoke to The Sun, they did their best to maintain their relationship, but the distance proved too challenging, leading to a second break-up.

According to a source at the Daily Mail, Liam reportedly ended the relationship because he’d lost interest.

Just a few weeks after his breakup, Liam seemed to suggest he was dating someone new when he posted about a romantic getaway at the Park View Hotel in Cardiff.

Millie is returning for the third season of Love Island: All Stars and has expressed how thankful she is for her time on the show four years prior.

She said she hasn’t changed much in the last four years and plans to stay authentic. She’s looking forward to having fun and enjoying herself, with a little playful flirting along the way.

Love Island: All Stars returns on Thursday 15th January at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
