Amazon is creating a new reality show called Fallout Shelter. It’s inspired by the popular Fallout video game series and comes from the creators of ‘The Traitors.’ The show will be based around the vaults run by the Vault-Tec Corporation, known for secretly experimenting on the people living inside.
The idea works really well because the strange ‘experiments’ Vault-Tec conducted are exactly the type of thing people watch on reality TV. For instance, Vault 11 forced residents to sacrifice someone each year – or so they were told, as the Vault would have continued working fine without it. Then there’s Vault 21, where the entire community revolved around gambling.
The new Amazon Prime show takes place inside a replica of a Vault, where contestants will face increasingly difficult challenges. They’ll need to use their smarts, work together, and show determination as they compete for a large cash prize and, more importantly, their safety and a position of power.
So far, so Fallout.

The upcoming Fallout TV series will be made in collaboration with Kilter Films (known for Westworld and the original Fallout) and Bethesda Game Studios. Bethesda has owned the Fallout franchise since 2007, taking over from Interplay Entertainment starting with Fallout 3.
If you think you have what it takes to survive – whether by working together or using any means necessary – you can apply on the Fallout Shelter casting website.
Now that Fallout season 2 is here, you can prepare by watching Lucy navigate the difficult world and grapple with her changing values. Or, if you’d prefer, you can experience the Fallout video games themselves, which are full of dark humor and offer countless hours of entertainment.
If someone questions why you’re spending so much time playing video games, you can simply explain that you’re competing for a large cash prize.
