Xbox One Users Just Got Great News to Start 2026

Gamers still using the Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Xbox Series X have something to celebrate at the start of 2026. It’s been thirteen years since the Xbox One first came out, and many consider this generation to be where Xbox struggled while PlayStation took a dominant lead. Microsoft likely wishes it could forget the Xbox One, especially as fewer and fewer players are still using it – most have upgraded to an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, or are playing on PC. Because of this, good news for Xbox One users is rare these days.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake from Ubisoft, a reimagining of their highly-rated 2003 classic (it currently has a 92 on Metacritic). Originally announced in 2020, before the PS5 and Xbox Series X were even available, the remake was initially planned for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, development has faced significant challenges over the past six years. Ubisoft has since removed the platform listings, and as of today, hasn’t confirmed where the game will be released this year. This led many to believe the PS4 and Xbox One versions were cancelled, but surprisingly, Ubisoft still intends to release it on those platforms.

The Ubisoft Game Is Still Coming to Xbox One

Although Ubisoft hasn’t officially said which platforms the remake will be on, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated it for release in North America. The ESRB listing, submitted by Ubisoft, includes Xbox One as one of the supported platforms.

While it’s unlikely to be an error – the ESRB is usually accurate – this isn’t an official announcement, so it’s best to view this information with some skepticism.
