
The historical drama A Thousand Blows, created by the maker of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, is quickly becoming popular on streaming services around the globe. It first premiered on Hulu in February 2025, and the second season, also with six episodes, began streaming on January 9th.
According to data from FlixPatrol today, January 16th, “A Thousand Blows” is currently the fifth most popular show on Disney+ globally. It’s behind “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” “Tell Me Lies,” “Pole to Pole with Will Smith,” and “High Potential,” but ahead of shows like “Made in Korea,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Modern Family,” “Bluey,” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.”
This week, the series A Thousand Blows is a Top 10 hit on Disney+ in 35 countries, including the UK, Ireland, and various nations in Northern and Southeastern Europe. In the United States, you can watch A Thousand Blows on Hulu, while it’s available on Disney+ everywhere else.
A Thousand Blows is set in 1880s London and tells the story of the Forty Elephants, an all-female gang known for their shoplifting and clever schemes. They clash with the man who controls the local bare-knuckle boxing world. At the same time, a Jamaican immigrant hoping to become a lion tamer, and his friend, are just trying to make a life for themselves, and their paths become intertwined with both the gang and the boxing boss.
The cast of A Thousand Blows features Erin Doherty, Malachi Kirby, Jair Ellis, Francis Lovehall, James Nelson-Joyce, Jason Tobin, Darci Shaw, Hannah Walters, Morgan Hilaire, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Jemma Carlton, Nadia Albina, Tom Davis, Daniel Mays, Stephen Graham, Gary Lewis, Susan Lynch, and Robert Glenister. For season two, Ned Dennehy joins the cast as Bull Jeremy, and Catherine McCormack will play Sophie Lyons.

Season one of A Thousand Blows was a hit with critics, earning an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. They praised its compelling story, which combines a dramatic period of British history with the distinctive, realistic style of creator Steven Knight. Viewers also enjoyed the show, giving it a 78% audience score.
Season 2 of A Thousand Blows is getting excellent reviews, with critics particularly impressed by its realistic feel, fast pace, and strong acting – especially from Erin Doherty. The show maintains its reputation for compelling performances, a vivid atmosphere, and exciting action sequences. Currently, there aren’t enough viewer ratings to give it an audience score.
Now that Peaky Blinders has concluded and the film The Immortal Man isn’t due until March 2026, A Thousand Blows is quickly becoming popular with viewers who enjoy the dark, realistic historical storytelling that Steven Knight is known for.
