Although DC Comics’ Absolute Universe is relatively new, having debuted only a short time ago, it’s already producing some of the most intriguing tales and personalities from contemporary comics. Unlike the primary universe of standard DC Continuity, the Absolute Universe presents a realm where evil dominates, with heroes occupying the underdog position. This alternate universe offers DC writers the opportunity to push familiar characters into unconventional territories and provide them with unique narratives that would be unattainable in the main DC continuity. For instance, Batman is not wealthy, Superman is homeless, and Wonder Woman was raised in Hell. With such starkly different origins, heroes may find themselves either less potent or even more powerful than their primary universe counterparts. As of now, it’s uncertain how comparatively weaker or stronger each character will ultimately be, but here’s a tentative power ranking based on the stories presented so far.
In a fresh new take, the Cosmic Universe has recast various DC Superheroes, altering not only their powers but also their untapped capabilities.
6) Batman
In contrast to his counterpart from the main universe, who boasts immense wealth, this version of Bruce Wayne compensates through strength, intellect, and engineering prowess. Utilizing his technical skills, he crafted the Batman persona, ensuring its size and durability, even extending it to his own physique. Standing tall at 6’6″ and weighing a formidable 250 lbs., this Batman is a force to be reckoned with. His entire costume conceals weapons, from a cape equipped with grappling hooks to throw opponents off-balance, to detachable ear pieces that can function as deadly projectiles. Even the bat emblem on his suit can transform into a formidable battle axe. To top it all off, his Batmobile is colossal, capable of flattening cars beneath its massive frame, reminiscent of a monstrous truck. Despite lacking superpowers, this Ultimate Batman more than compensates with unwavering determination as both a combatant and an engineer.
5) Martian Manhunter
In this particular universe, John Jones, a human FBI agent, isn’t actually Martian, but rather he’s connected to an alien entity that refers to itself as a Martian. This extraterrestrial grants John psychic powers, allowing him to read people’s thoughts and giving him the unique ability to heal others of mental afflictions like delusions or outside influences. Additionally, he has a healing factor, resistance to fire, and the power of teleportation. The Martian entity can also enter other people’s minds, which it uses to bring peace by reducing violence and aggression. When the ruthless White Martians from another dimension invade Earth and try to incite more violence among humans, John and the Martian work together to fight them off. Unlike some of the Absolute Universe’s other heroes, they prefer non-violent solutions, but their mental powers make them formidable opponents, able to influence their enemies’ emotions for peaceful resolutions.
4) The Flash
In simpler terms, Wally West, also known as Flash of the Multiverse, is not just a speed expert; he’s a master of destiny. Unlike other speedsters across the DC Multiverse, Wally doesn’t draw his powers from the Speed Force but instead from an unidentified source. This mysterious power grants him the ability to run at superhuman speeds, pass through objects, and emit electrical bursts. Moreover, he can travel through time, either moving backward or glimpsing potential futures. However, due to his youth and inexperience, he struggles to control these abilities effectively. With more time and training, though, he could become a force to be reckoned with across the Multiverse.
3) Green Lantern
In other words, upon wedding ring’s absorption of green alien energy from Abin Sur, Sojourner Mullein assumed the role of Green Lantern, granting her flight abilities and the power to form hard light constructs like force fields and massive fists. Just five days into this cosmic power, she demonstrated significant strength by engaging in combat with Hal Jordan, who was influenced by the volatile and destructive energy of the Black Hand. Notably, the Black Hand feeds on light and life. Remarkably, Sojourner’s constructs proved resilient enough to withstand, even overpower, attacks from the Black Hand, indicating her immense power as a Green Lantern. Although we have yet to fully comprehend her potential, it is clear that Sojourner exhibits promising abilities in harnessing the Green Spectrum of Power.
2) Superman
In his current universe, Superman, although not as powerfully strong as his original counterpart, remains an imposing figure who tackles entire armies alone. This version of Kal-El retains the ability to absorb yellow sunlight for typical Kryptonian powers such as flight, strength, and heat vision. However, due to limited energy reserves, he can tire quickly, leaving him susceptible. Fortunately, his high-tech armor compensates for these weaknesses. Equipped with artificial intelligence, this suit alerts Kal-El of potential threats and transforms into a solar panel to help absorb more sunlight for increased strength. Its most remarkable feature is the sunstone dust embedded within it. Comprised of tiny nanites, this dust surrounds Superman like a cape and can morph into various shapes. It can be utilized for tasks such as grasping people, serving as a protective barrier, dismantling technology, and even transforming into a devastating dust storm capable of obliterating anything in its path.
1) Wonder Woman
Diana, also known as Wonder Woman, is the mightiest character in the multiverse we know. Raised by Circe among the Amazons, she’s not just physically strong but also wields a variety of mystical abilities and weapons. Her spells can affect entire cities, while some grant her powers like teleportation, controlling fire and earth, creating shields, and traveling between dimensions. She carries an assortment of tools in a magical pouch that’s bigger on the inside. Among these are a sword as big as she is, a lasso that makes those caught in it feel the guilt of their past sins, and a secret weapon: she can transform into a colossal Gorgon, turning anything that looks at her into stone. With this impressive array of powers and weapons, Diana stands out as the most powerful hero across the multiverse so far.
