A former child star has been killed in a hit-and-run car accident.
Kianna Underwood, known for being on the Nickelodeon show All That in 2005, passed away on January 16th after being hit by a car in Brooklyn, New York. She was 33 years old.
Around 6:49 a.m. local time, police received a 911 call reporting a car had struck a woman. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, the woman suffered serious injuries to her head and body, and her identity is currently unknown, as reported by Page Six.
According to law enforcement sources at TMZ, Underwood was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at Pitkin Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard in Brownsville. The car then dragged them for almost two blocks.
According to police, the woman was declared dead at the location of the incident. The Deputy Commissioner of Public Information stated that the driver left the scene and did not stay.
No arrests are reported to have been made, and authorities continue to investigate.
Underwood began her career in New York, providing voice work for the animated series Little Bill from 1999 to 2004. She then appeared on seven episodes of All That, alongside stars like Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, and Kenan Thompson.
The sketch comedy show indeed launched the career of many child stars.
Amanda Bynes described joining the cast of All That in 1996 as a dream come true, telling Paper magazine in 2018 that it was an unbelievable experience.
Likewise, Thompson has previously spoken about how the show gave him his start in Hollywood.
He shared with Variety in 2019 that the experience meant the world to him, explaining it was his very first job and provided him with a valuable opportunity.
The Saturday Night Live comedian also became an executive producer for a revived version of the show. This reboot featured new cast members Nathan Janak, Kate Godfrey, and Lex Lumpkin, but it only lasted for one season, concluding in 2020.
