Dylan Mulvaney is saying oui, oui, bonjour to Broadway.
The popular TikTok creator is starting her Broadway career in the musical Six. She’ll be playing Anne Boleyn, one of Henry VIII’s wives, in a show that presents them as a pop girl group performing a concert.
Dylan announced on Instagram on January 16th that they’re thrilled to be making their Broadway debut next month, playing a complex and controversial character in what they described as a fantastic musical.
The 29-year-old said she was thrilled to finally pursue her dream and invited everyone to come and watch. She was overjoyed and couldn’t stop smiling.
Starting February 16th, Dylan will join the cast of the show, alongside Grammy-winning artist Abigail Barlow, who is making her Broadway debut as Katherine Howard. Original cast members Adrianna Hicks (as Catherine of Aragon) and Anna Uzele (as Catherine Parr) are also returning, along with former cast member Olivia Donaldson as Anna of Cleves.
Dylan is enthusiastically joining the historical reinterpretation trend, playfully mentioning on Instagram that she’ll be portraying a well-known, yet controversial, woman who famously lost her head – a reference to the 1536 execution of the former Queen of England.
This transgender advocate is a seasoned performer. She previously toured nationally with The Book of Mormon and will be debuting her one-woman show, The Least Problematic Woman in the World, Off-Broadway in 2025.

Dylan, who began publicly sharing her journey of transitioning in 2022, says Kristin Chenoweth inspired her dream of becoming a performer. She even wrote to Chenoweth during the 2010-2011 production of Promises Promises, asking the Tony Award-winning actress to meet for coffee.
She recalled receiving a surprising email that said, ‘Kristin has never gotten a better letter,’ according to an interview with MTV UK in 2025. The email continued by saying she couldn’t meet for coffee, but would love to invite him backstage at the musical Promises Promises.
Dylan remembers her telling them, after the show, that she knew they would one day be performers. She encouraged them to pursue musical theater, saying she believed in their talent and expected to see them on stage. She essentially told them to follow their dreams and she’d see them succeed.

Before starting her transition, she always saw herself as someone who preferred to follow others. Now, she feels empowered and ready to take on a leadership role, telling TopMob News that she’s eager to develop her leadership skills.
Dylan added, “And thank god we finally got here, because I never want to go back!”

Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts’ daughter has always been certain about two things: her passion for fashion and her identity as a woman.
Kai confidently stated in an interview with Interview Magazine in June 2025, “I want to be a supermodel, and that’s it.” They revealed they’ve been preparing for years, even practicing their walk at home. “My mom has tons of videos of me practicing that I made her film!”
She explained that her lifelong feelings about her gender identity likely played a role in her aspirations. She’d always dreamed of becoming a beautiful, glamorous, and powerful woman, and Marilyn Monroe was a major inspiration.
And what’s great about her trans experience is that she has felt the support of her parents.
Liev shared with Variety in May 2025 that Kai has always been true to herself. He described Kai as a resilient person and emphasized the importance of her openly stating her identity as a transgender woman and embracing visibility.

Growing up in Alabama, the actress from Orange Is the New Black was severely bullied as a child because she didn’t conform to traditional expectations for boys. She shared with ABC News in 2014 that this discrimination led her to attempt suicide when she was in the sixth grade.
Laverne recalled feeling drawn to other boys and admitted she’d felt hopeless and didn’t want to go on living.
The actress only truly felt a sense of peace and acceptance after moving to New York and embracing her identity as a woman, especially after connecting with the LGBTQ+ community there.
She once explained to The Advocate that it felt like she’d spent her entire life avoiding a part of herself. Instead of accepting who she was, she’d been constantly struggling against it, trying to change or compromise.

Though her popular song “For You I Will (Confidence)” seems to be about conquering fears, the artist privately battled with being true to herself before publicly coming out as a transgender woman in 2017.
In a 2020 interview with Today, Teddy shared that they often found themselves wishing they were a girl. They explained that for a long time, they suppressed these feelings, never allowing themselves to fully understand or explore them. This led to significant anxiety and compulsive behaviors.
And since transitioning, the singer said she feels “a lot more connected” to herself.
In 2021, she told Apple Music that the past few years have been a journey of self-discovery, allowing her to embrace her identity as a transgender woman and overcome challenges with OCD and anxiety.

Before publicly announcing her transition in 2021, the actor known for 13 Reasons Why had been privately living as a woman for a year.
In an interview with Time, she explained that staying silent about her experiences can mean losing control of how her story is told. She sees her journey as a process of growth and change, demonstrating the fluidity of gender – how it’s constantly evolving, often unexpectedly, and requires openness and courage.
For the actress, coming to terms with her identity also meant realizing she wanted different kinds of romantic relationships.
Tommy, who divorced Peter Zurkuhlen in 2022, described a nine-year relationship where she was perceived as male and her partner was a gay man. She explained that while she still cares deeply for him, she’s realized that her needs as a transgender woman aren’t always compatible with his as a gay man. They’ve had open and honest conversations and have now redefined their connection as a friendship.

I was SO happy when Elliot Page finally shared his truth back in December 2020! He’d been dealing with this privately for years, and it took so much courage. Reading his words just… got to me. He said his happiness was real, but also fragile, and honestly, that felt so raw and honest. He was so brave to admit he was scared – scared of all the attention, the negativity, the awful jokes, and even the possibility of violence. It just broke my heart, but also made me so incredibly proud of him for being himself.
He shared a message of support for transgender people, saying he recognizes their struggles with harassment, self-doubt, abuse, and violence. He expressed his love and commitment to working towards a better future for them.
Elliot has consistently shared updates on his transition, including his recovery from chest surgery. In a May 2023 shirtless selfie, he wrote about how difficult summers used to be, explaining that he’d struggle with discomfort and self-consciousness, often feeling the need to hide his chest or overheat with layers. He expressed immense joy at finally being able to comfortably enjoy the sun and feel good in his body, something he never thought possible.
The Umbrella Academy star also detailed his transition in his 2023 memoir, Pageboy.

Laura Jane Grace, the singer of Against Me!, realized she experienced feelings of gender dysphoria from a very young age. In a 2014 interview with Magnet magazine, she described a strong inner need to express her true self. She explained that these feelings would build until she could find privacy to explore and express her identity, and this pattern continued throughout her life.
I’ve been following Laura’s story for a while now, and it’s incredibly powerful. She shared that when things got really tough, she tried to numb the pain and escape from what was happening by turning to drugs and alcohol. This led to years of battling depression. It wasn’t until she reached her thirties that she finally accepted these feelings weren’t going to disappear, and that’s when she bravely came out as transgender in 2012. It’s a testament to her strength and journey.
She shared that she’s taking things one day at a time, trying to understand what’s happening in her life and how to move forward. While she’s still struggling with a lot, she’s also proud of overcoming a major obstacle that was holding her back, and she sees that as a positive step.

Chaz Bono, the child of Cher and Sonny Bono, has said he always identified as male, despite being assigned female at birth.
The musician remembered feeling confused and upset during puberty. Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in 2014, several years into his transition, he explained that people began to expect different things from him, and his body was changing in ways that felt wrong. He went from being a lean, athletic child to developing curves, which was deeply distressing. He felt his body wasn’t reflecting who he was inside, and it was a very difficult time.
His experience was chronicled in the 2011 documentary Becoming Chaz.

It’s challenging enough to grow up with public attention, but it’s even harder when you’re also discovering who you are as a person, specifically with your gender identity. Despite this, Zaya, the daughter of retired NBA star Dwyane Wade, has handled everything with grace and strength.
After coming out as transgender, I received a lot of hurtful comments telling me I needed to grow my hair long or conform to traditional feminine standards, which just wasn’t right for me,” she explained to People magazine in 2022. “That kind of criticism is meant to tear you down, but it’s important not to let it affect you.”
Zaya explained why she chose to share her personal journey publicly. In an interview with Dazed in March 2023, she said the benefits of having a supportive and inclusive platform far outweighed any negativity she faced online. She believes it’s allowed her to spread positivity and empower transgender people around the world, giving them inspiration and a voice to live authentically without fear. Her father and stepmother, Gabrielle Union, are part of her strong support system.

Gigi, who calls herself the “Queen of Coming Out,” has documented her experiences with gender identity on YouTube for years. Jazz, a popular YouTuber, began advocating for the transgender community at just six years old. She first gained national attention in 2007 with an interview on 20/20 with Barbara Walters, where she openly discussed her experiences with gender dysphoria. Since then, she has continued to share the challenges and triumphs of her transition, including documenting her gender-confirmation surgeries, on her TLC series, I Am Jazz.
She remembered feeling unsure about how much to share publicly, noting that many well-known transgender individuals don’t discuss their surgeries. Ultimately, she decided she wanted to help people understand the experience firsthand and educate as many as possible, as she explained in a 2021 interview with Variety.

As a lifestyle advocate, I often hear incredible stories of self-discovery, and this one is truly inspiring. A former contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race shared that she began her transition journey almost immediately after filming season three. In fact, she’d already been on hormone replacement therapy for a full year before the show even aired in 2011. It just goes to show you how long this process can be, and how important it is to embrace your authentic self.
In a 2016 interview with Self, she remembered realizing at age 25 that she wouldn’t feel complete unless she transitioned. She explained that going through hormone therapy – specifically, lowering her testosterone and raising her estrogen – gave her a newfound and intense emotional understanding she hadn’t experienced before.
She explained that she appreciates being able to live her life and simply be, without constantly overthinking and criticizing herself. She warned that being uncomfortable with who you are can be incredibly damaging to your mental health.

Okay, so I’ve been following this actress for ages, and honestly, she’s so real! It’s amazing! She doesn’t hide anything. Like, she literally tweeted during her tracheal shave! Can you believe it? It was wild watching it happen live, and I just admire how open and honest she is about everything. It’s like we’re all part of her journey, you know?
Hari, the first transgender woman signed by IMG Worldwide modeling agency, explained to Vogue in 2014 that she chose to pursue her career immediately rather than privately transition for several years. She could have stayed in Boston, lived with her family, had voice training, and undergone gender reassignment surgery before starting her work in fashion or film, but she didn’t want to delay living her life and being visible. She simply wanted to be out in the world.

Some LGBTQ+ celebrities have publicly shared their transitions, but actress Michaela Jaé Rodriguez decided to take a break from her career in 2012 to focus on her own personal journey.
She explained to Playbill that she needed time for personal growth – to improve both mentally and physically. She wasn’t ready to share what she was going through publicly, so she took time to focus on herself and sort things out.
Since returning to the stage, the Broadway star has found confidence and wanted to demonstrate that transgender women are capable of achieving anything they set out to do.

When Kim Petras was 16, in 2007, her desire to live as her true self gained attention in Germany. She sought medical approval for gender confirmation surgery, and received it a year later. After the surgery, she told The Telegraph that she had always felt like a woman, but was born in a body that didn’t match how she felt.

For years, the Olympic athlete wrestled with questions about her gender identity and kept her true self hidden from loved ones. In April 2015, she publicly came out as transgender in an interview with Diane Sawyer, stating simply, “Yes, I am a woman.”
Two months later, Caitlyn publicly came out on the cover of Vanity Fair, explaining her transition by saying she wasn’t seeking attention, but simply wanted to live authentically.
She explained that she’d regret it terribly if, on her deathbed, she hadn’t addressed this issue. She didn’t want to feel like she’d wasted her life or failed to confront her own problems, and she was determined to act now to avoid that regret.
