Fans of the popular anime Solo Leveling are eagerly awaiting news about a return, but a new anime series coming out this year appears to offer a similar experience. Solo Leveling has become a huge hit as both a webtoon and an anime, with its first two seasons being very well-received. However, current reports indicate that it will be a significant wait before new episodes are released.
With Solo Leveling currently on hold due to its anime and webtoon breaks, a new series called Tomb Raider King is emerging with a strikingly similar protagonist, weapon, and quest for powerful artifacts. The Korean-produced anime is set to launch this summer and has released a first-look trailer and poster, aiming to establish its own identity and appeal to fans awaiting the return of Solo Leveling.
Tomb Raider King Anime Announced for July 2026
Kadokawa is creating a new animated series based on Tomb Raider King. Originally developed by SANG using Kakao’s platforms in 2016, this Korean project will be directed and written by Seung Wook Woo at STUDIO EEK. Hyun-Jung Lee will lead animation and character design, with Hyung Jun Heo also serving as a chief animation director, and Ju Young Kim composing the music. A Japanese dub will be available, and the anime is expected to debut in July 2026.
As of now, there’s no word on when Tomb Raider King will be available internationally or on streaming services. However, the Japanese voice cast has been revealed: Yoshimasa Hosoya will play Ryoga Goriki, Saori Hayami will voice Irene Holton, and Junichi Suwabe will be Taisei Ogawara. The opening theme song, titled “Showdown” and performed by QWER, was also unveiled. Hopefully, the anime will establish its own unique identity, moving beyond comparisons to Solo Leveling.
What Is Tomb Raider King About?

I’m so excited to share that Yen Press is bringing the Tomb Raider King Webtoon to English readers! It’s a really cool story, and honestly, it’s quite different from Solo Leveling. The premise is that these mysterious tombs have suddenly appeared all over the world, each containing a powerful relic. But the main character, Ryoga, isn’t your typical hero – he’s a hunter who gets seriously betrayed and almost killed, then gets thrown back in time fifteen years! It’s a wild ride, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds in English.
Driven by a desire for revenge, Ryoga is using his knowledge of the future – including hidden tombs and powerful relics – to become stronger. While he shares similarities with Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling, especially in appearance, it will be interesting to see how his story unfolds and differentiates itself.
