While Bungie hasn’t officially confirmed this, a video discovered by Reddit user u/TheJuiceBaba suggests a new trailer for the game exists. The trailer briefly surfaced on the game’s Xbox Club and seems to reveal updated content, culminating in a potential release date of March 5, 2026.
I can’t include the trailer directly because it’s being removed from most platforms, but you can still find it online. It’s worth quickly mentioning the development process Marathon went through to reach its current state.
Marathon hasn’t really taken off since it was first announced. A lot of players were unsure about Bungie moving into the extraction shooter genre, which is known for being challenging to get right.
I noticed the game faced a lot of criticism, and it started when people discovered it was using artwork that wasn’t originally created for it. This caused a big uproar online. Honestly, even before that came to light, the game just didn’t seem to generate much buzz or excitement.
Things became more difficult when ARC Raiders launched and quickly gained popularity. Because of this, people haven’t had very high hopes for Marathon.
Okay, so after the game got pushed back, it’s really obvious Bungie has been putting in the work. I’m still not *completely* hooked, but the recent changes definitely show things are heading in the right direction and it’s way better than it was at launch. I’m starting to feel more optimistic!

Marathon seems to be progressing much more smoothly this time around. Hopefully, Bungie can steer clear of any more issues and finish the game strongly.
Marathon is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. While the PlayStation Store says it will be released in March 2026, a recently leaked trailer suggests the game might arrive sooner than expected.
