HBO Max is wisely promoting the upcoming season of Euphoria. They recently dropped the first trailer for season 3, which showed the story jumping forward five years and announced the release date: April 12, 2026. Given the show’s popularity, Euphoria is likely to stay a hot topic until then.
Why Euphoria Season 3 Took This Long
Fans are eagerly awaiting the third season of Euphoria, but it wasn’t always certain it would happen. Following the season 2 finale in 2022, filming faced numerous delays due to issues like changes in the entertainment industry, personal tragedies, and reports of disagreements among those involved.
The delays for Euphoria season 3, and across the entertainment industry in 2023, were largely due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes. Many shows and movies faced postponements or complete shutdowns. Sadly, the delays for Euphoria were also caused by the unexpected passing of Angus Cloud, who played Fez, and executive producer Kevin Turen.
Beyond the recent difficulties, a possible disagreement between Zendaya and Sam Levinson may have delayed the start of Euphoria season 3. Sources say Zendaya was upset that Levinson prioritized The Idol—his controversial 2023 series starring Lily Rose Depp, which received negative reviews—over continuing work on Euphoria.

Though still over two months away, fans are getting increasingly excited for Euphoria season 3. The show has consistently been successful for HBO, and now that many of its stars have become major celebrities, the anticipation is even greater.
Moving the story forward in time was a gamble for Euphoria, which built a reputation as a daring teen drama. Now the characters are entering young adulthood. But it seems like the risk will be worth it, as the recently released trailer for the controversial season 3 suggests it will be the show’s most talked-about season yet.
Even though Rue, Cassie, Nate, and their friends have graduated, their lives are still full of drama and challenges. Rue is currently in Mexico, working to repay a drug dealer, while Cassie and Nate are newly engaged and trying to settle into suburban life.
