It’s a bit strange to get used to, but Xbox is now publishing games on PlayStation, and for the first time, one of their most popular franchises will be available on Sony’s platform this year.
As a huge Halo fan, I was so excited for Halo: Campaign Evolved! It’s basically a fresh take on the very first game, letting you experience that amazing story all over again. The only thing is, they didn’t include the competitive multiplayer modes this time around – it’s focused purely on the single-player campaign.
This game, originally revealed last year and built with the powerful Unreal Engine 5, is especially exciting for PlayStation 5 owners. Many will be experiencing this sci-fi world and playing as the legendary Master Chief for the very first time.
The game’s developers clearly recognize how significant this release is. In a recent GamesRadar article, creative director Max Szlagor and executive producer Damon Conn discussed bringing the game to PlayStation 5.
Conn explains they want to include longtime fans who’ve played for the last 25 years alongside a new wave of players. This will be possible through features like four-player online co-op and crossplay in Campaign Evolved.
He explained that some people have never played Halo – perhaps they’ve always used PlayStation, changed consoles over time, or simply never got around to it. The goal is to reconnect players and bring everyone together.
As a huge Halo fan, it’s awesome to hear Szlagor emphasize how important a strong community is to the game’s success. He really sees Halo as more than just a game – it’s a way for us all to come together, grow the fanbase, and reconnect with each other. It’s encouraging to know they’re focused on that!
We’re committed to respecting Halo’s history on PlayStation and building on that world, which is a big responsibility we take very seriously,” Conn explains. “We understand the importance of this and aren’t approaching it casually; we feel the pressure to get it right.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited about Campaign Evolved! It’s basically a complete rebuild of the original game, but with updated graphics and gameplay. What’s even cooler is they’re adding completely new missions that happen before the main story, giving us a whole new piece of the world to explore!
