Recent information about how Avengers: Doomsday begins reveals some disappointing news for those who enjoy Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man.
Everyone seems to know, though Marvel hasn’t officially said it, that Tobey Maguire is going to be in Avengers: Doomsday! A reliable source, MyTimeToShineHello, has been sharing details for a while now. They’ve said his Spider-Man suit will be completely computer-generated, and that he’s even going to share a scene with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine – which is amazing! I’m so excited to see it all happen.
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 4 seems unlikely with latest Avengers: Doomsday update
According to the latest Nerdrotic at Night livestream, sources suggest Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will appear relatively soon in Avengers: Doomsday. The report claims his Spider-Man will be battling Doctor Octopus and the X-Men from the Fox universe, but will ultimately be defeated and killed by the X-Men.

If it happened, the death of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man early in a ‘Doomsday’ movie would be very surprising for fans who have followed Marvel for a long time.
Tobey Maguire first played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the movies. He starred in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (2002, 2004, and 2007) and was planned to reprise the role in a fourth film. However, Sony canceled those plans and instead created a new Spider-Man series with Andrew Garfield in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man.
Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both reprised their roles as Spider-Man in Tom Holland’s 2021 film, No Way Home, uniting all three actors who’ve played the superhero in live-action movies. The film was hugely successful, and fans immediately began asking Sony to make Spider-Man 4 with Maguire and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 with Garfield.
If Maguire’s Spider-Man dies and his universe is destroyed in the upcoming movie, it would be difficult for Sony to create a Spider-Man 4 that takes place after the events involving the Avengers. They’d likely have to set it earlier in his timeline.
Considering the likely involvement of alternate universes in the upcoming story, it’s possible Loki could rescue Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man from his universe’s destruction and bring him into the battle against Doctor Doom.
Since there’s been no official announcement yet, Spider-Man fans will have to wait until “Avengers: Doomsday” is released on December 18, 2026, to find out what happens with Tobey Maguire’s character in the film.
