Riz Ahmed auditions for James Bond 007 role in first look at new comedy – as release date confirmed

The competition to find the next James Bond is heating up, and it’s become such a big deal that a new comedy series has been created about the search itself.

Riz Ahmed leads the new Prime Video series, Bait, playing Shah Latif, an actor hoping for a breakthrough. He gets a potentially life-changing opportunity when he auditions for the iconic role of James Bond.

The series chronicles the next four chaotic days of his life as everything falls apart, with his family, a former partner, and the public all questioning if he’s fit for the position.

All six episodes of the series will premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, March 25th. A short preview clip has also been released.

The video shows Shah’s family discovering a news article about his audition, and they quickly start imagining all the possibilities – and getting overly excited about what it could mean for him.

The series will feature a talented cast including Guz Khan, known for ‘Stuffed’, as Zulfi, Sheeba Chaddha (‘Hamlet’) as Tahira, Sajid Hasan (‘Hum Sub’) as Parvez, Aasiya Shah (‘Unforgotten’) as Q, Weruche Opia (‘The Jetty’) as Felicia, and Ritu Arya (‘The Umbrella Academy’) as Yasmin, alongside Ahmed.

Ahmed is the lead actor in the series and also helps run the show with Ben Karlin, a writer known for his work on shows like Modern Family, Future Man, and Minx.

After his role as Bond, Ahmed will star as Hamlet in a new movie adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play.

Directed by Aneil Karia, the film is a modern retelling of the story, now set in London. The cast includes Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chaddha, Avijit Dutt, Art Malik, and Timothy Spall.
