Despite being a standout addition to the cast in Landman season 2, the future of Andy Garcia’s character, Gallino, is unclear for season 3. The show consistently introduces and removes characters as Taylor Sheridan’s drama explores the competitive world of oil and the constant power struggles within it. Set in West Texas, Landman is a modern Western filled with betrayal and shifting alliances.
The season 2 finale of Landman saw a major turnaround for Billy Bob Thornton’s character, Tommy. After being fired by M-Tex, he managed to secure a significant investment from Andy Garcia’s Gallino by outbidding them. Gallino, a Cuban-American mobster, was secretly involved with a cartel and used legitimate businesses, including M-Tex, to hide his illegal money laundering.
Andy Garcia’s Landman Season 3 Status Explained
Okay, so in the final act, Tommy really pulled something off. He launched this new venture, CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle, and managed to get a huge $62 million investment from Gallino. Now, it’s a bit complicated – $44 million of that was basically just paying back M-Tex for some land leases Tommy’s company took over. But the really exciting part is that left $18 million for CTT to actually start drilling for oil on their own – a real chance to strike it rich!
It’s hard to say how important Garcia’s character will be when Landman returns for season 3 on Paramount+. Throughout season 2, Tommy actively tried to avoid confronting Gallino, and for good reason – he didn’t want to get mixed up with a dangerous cartel boss.
Why Andy Garcia Was One Of The Best Landman Season 2 Cast Additions
In the finale, Gallino stepped in to save Tommy’s oil business with a crucial investment, acting as his rescuer. Combined with the news that Andy Garcia will be back for season 3 of Landman, it looks like we haven’t seen the last of this dangerous cartel leader.
It’s fantastic to hear this news! Garcia was a standout addition in season 2. The actor, known from The Godfather Part III, injected much-needed intensity and a classic gangster feel into a season that was otherwise inconsistent, preventing the show from becoming too soapy and maintaining its darker tone.
Season 3 of Landman promises a return to the high-stakes drama fans loved in season 1. After a slower season 2, the reintroduction of Garcia’s character, Gallino, sets the stage for compelling conflict, as he’s sure to be heavily involved in the cartel conflicts and provide a powerful rival for Tommy.
