Kelly Ripa announced that her famous soap opera, All My Children, is returning as two movies. The show originally aired on ABC for 41 years before moving to The Online Network in the early 2010s. It followed the lives and dramas of families in the fictional town of Pine Valley. Ripa, who played Hayley Vaughan for 12 years, discussed the unexpected revival on her podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa (as reported by Gold Derby). She and her husband, Mark Consuelos, are producing the movies through their production company, Milojo.
It’s still very early on in the process,” she explained to Susan Lucci, her All My Children co-star. Ripa also checked to see if Lucci would be interested in returning to her role.
I’d absolutely love to reprise my role as Erica Kane. It was such a joy to play her! Honestly, it was incredibly fun. I remember reading the scripts and being amazed by the storylines. It was a fantastic part, and I’m also hearing great things about the writer of the new movies, which is really important – you want to be working with someone talented.
Susan Lucci, once known as ‘Daytime’s Leading Lady,’ famously played Erica Kane, a character who had eleven husbands. Throughout her career, she received an incredible 21 Daytime Emmy nominations for her leading role, but was often bested by Erika Slezak, Judith Light, Laurie Heineman, Irene Dailey, and Linda Dano. Finally, after attending the awards ceremony for 18 years, she won the Emmy in 1999.

While a revival of All My Children isn’t confirmed yet – and we’re hoping Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos can make it happen – many popular TV shows have successfully become movies.
