First Masters of the Universe Footage Revealed in New Teaser (And It’s Already Perfect)

After a long and bumpy road, a new Masters of the Universe movie is coming to theaters later this year, and fans are excited to see what it’s all about. Now, the first trailer has dropped, giving everyone a first look at the cast and the film itself – and initial reactions are overwhelmingly positive.

The first trailer finally shows off the amazing costumes, which many fans expected would be similar to the original animated series. It’s a short trailer, but it does feature a good look at the main characters – He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Teela, Roboto, and Battle Cat – and you can watch it below.

We’re excited to see more action and impressive scenes in the full trailer, but even this short teaser shows the spirit of the original series. That makes us optimistic that the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie will be something truly great when it finally arrives in theaters.

Masters of the Universe Is On The Big Screen After Nearly 40 Years

Masters of the Universe is a well-known franchise that has done well with toys, comics, and television shows, but its movie adaptations haven’t been as successful. The first Masters of the Universe movie came out in 1987, starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor, rather than the more recent casting choices of Galitzine and Jared Leto.

Despite many efforts, a new Masters of the Universe movie hasn’t made it to the big screen in years. Numerous writers and directors have tried to get the project off the ground, and the list of people involved is quite extensive. For example, John Woo was once set to direct, but none of these attempts lasted more than a couple of years.

2023 brought positive developments for the film, and despite initial fan skepticism, it’s now almost complete and boasts an incredible cast. Alongside stars like Richard Madden and Jared Leto, the film features Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Camila Mendes as Teela, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Johannes Haukur Johannesson as Malcolm, Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, Jon Sue Zhang as Ram-Man, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, James Wilkinson as Mekaneck, and Kristen Wiig voicing Roboto. With such a talented ensemble, fans are hoping the film lives up to its impressive cast.

Masters of the Universe is set to hit theaters on June 5th, 2026.
