Filming for The Batman Part II is scheduled to start later this year. Director Matt Reeves has been adding to the cast, bringing back stars like Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell. Joining them are new faces from the Marvel universe – Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan. Stan will be playing Harvey Dent in this new DC film, and there are still a few roles to be cast, including one that will be important to Dent’s storyline.
So, I was listening to the My Mom’s Basement podcast, and Deadline’s Justin Kroll dropped a pretty interesting tidbit about The Batman Part II. Apparently, there’s one major role still up for grabs, and the buzz is it’s an older character – everyone’s guessing it’s Harvey Dent’s father. Now, director Matt Reeves hasn’t officially announced they’re casting for Christopher Dent, but it’s definitely a cool hint about where the sequel might be headed. It’s exciting to think about how they could weave that character into the story!
Christopher Dent Plays a Key Role in Two-Face’s Origin Story

Christopher Dent first appeared in a 1990 DC Comics story exploring the origins of Two-Face. He had a very difficult relationship with his son, Harvey. Struggling with alcoholism and mental illness, Christopher was often abusive, which deeply affected Harvey’s mental health and ultimately contributed to him becoming the villain Two-Face. Interestingly, the comics reveal that Two-Face’s habit of flipping a coin actually started with his father, who would use a coin flip to decide whether or not to harm Harvey.
Christopher Dent, a character who first appeared in the video game Batman: Arkham Shadow, hasn’t yet been portrayed in a live-action Batman movie. Introducing him in The Batman Part II would be a clever decision. It would allow director Matt Reeves to create a unique version of Harvey Dent, distinct from previous interpretations, especially Aaron Eckhart’s portrayal in The Dark Knight. To avoid direct comparisons to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Reeves could explore a less-seen side of Harvey’s life. While The Dark Knight focuses on Harvey’s relationship with Rachel Dawes, we don’t get much insight into his personal life beyond that. Showing Harvey’s relationship with his father would offer a fresh and interesting perspective.
With rumors suggesting Scarlett Johansson will play Gilda Gold, Harvey Dent and his family seem poised to be important characters in The Batman Part II. While many Batman characters haven’t yet appeared on screen, bringing Harvey Dent into this series feels right. He’s a key figure in Batman’s story, and given that Matt Reeves’ films focus on Gotham’s criminal underworld, it makes sense for the district attorney to get involved, as he’d naturally be concerned with the city’s organized crime.
If Christopher Dent appears in The Batman Part II, it will be fascinating to see what role he plays. Fans are wondering if this movie will show Harvey Dent becoming Two-Face, or if that storyline will be saved for the third film. It might be smarter to use The Batman Part II to build up Harvey’s transformation into a villain. Since the first movie explored his complicated relationship with his father, turning him into Two-Face could be a truly heartbreaking moment that resonates with viewers. We don’t yet know who’s being considered for the role, but director Matt Reeves has a great history of casting, so it’s likely whoever he chooses will be perfect.
