Okay, folks, get ready! Apple TV+ is bringing back one of their strongest shows, For All Mankind, and I just got a look at the trailer for season five, hitting the streamer on March 27th. What’s really exciting is the show is really leaning into the Mars colonization aspect of its alternate history timeline. We’re talking full-on life on the red planet, and the trailer hints at some serious drama and challenges as humanity tries to build a life there. It looks fantastic!
The story starts with a voiceover saying, “Everything has led to this moment. You’re going to do incredible things – things people can’t even imagine. It’s up to you now.” These words are shown alongside images of life on Mars, including a man riding a motorcycle there, and a close-up of Sean Kaufman, who is revealed to be the son of Kelly and Alexei.
Season 5 of For All Mankind picks up after the events of the Goldilocks asteroid heist. The Mars colony, Happy Valley, has grown into a bustling city with thousands of inhabitants, enabling further exploration of the solar system. However, tensions are rising as Earth’s countries attempt to establish control and enforce laws on Mars, creating conflict between the colonists and those back on Earth.
What to Expect from For All Mankind Season 5
Apple TV+’s For All Mankind is a highly praised show, currently boasting a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Interestingly, the show has actually gotten better with each season, achieving perfect 100% ratings for its second and fourth seasons. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming fifth season, which will have 10 episodes, culminating in a finale on May 29th.
If you’re just discovering it, For All Mankind is a show that imagines a different history – one where the Soviet Union beat the United States to the moon. From there, it explores a future with even more space travel, eventually leading to people living on Mars. Season 4 of For All Mankind focuses on an asteroid called the Goldilocks asteroid and jumps forward nine years in time.
