Yakuza Fan Concerns Come to a Head Over Dodgy Kiwami 3 Graphics

Yakuza Kiwami 3, launching next month, is shaping up to be a faithful and well-made remake of the original PlayStation 3 game. However, some dedicated fans are beginning to notice minor problems and imperfections.

A recent demo of the game has raised concerns among fans about the visual quality of one specific street. The colors appear overly bright and intense, especially when compared to the original game. Take a look at the two images below for a closer comparison.

Imagine you’re looking at two screenshots. The one on the left is from the original game, and the one on the right is from the updated remake.

This is just one instance that’s gained attention online, but players of the demo have noticed this happens consistently in darker areas. The colors appear washed out, resulting in the image you see here. Fans are frustrated because this same problem has occurred in previous Yakuza and Like a Dragon titles and hasn’t been addressed.

The Steam demo for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties has received “mostly negative” reviews from players. Concerns include issues with the combat system and the recasting of the character Goh Hamazaki. He is now played by Teruyuki Kagawa, who provides both the voice and likeness for the character.

In 2022, actor Kagawa admitted to inappropriate sexual conduct after being accused of sexual harassment in 2019. Photos from one of the incidents became public, leading fans to start a #REMOVEKAGAWA campaign online, calling for him to be removed from his role. However, SEGA, the company he works with, has never publicly addressed these allegations or the fan campaign.

Honestly, a lot of people are really focusing on the graphics not being top-tier, and it’s making it tough for Yakuza Kiwami 3 to get everyone on board. But thankfully, we’ll finally be able to play it on both PS5 and PS4 when it launches on February 12th, 2026 – hopefully that will change some minds!
