Liam Neeson is famous for his intense line, “I will find you, and I will kill you,” delivered in the 2008 film Taken. That role redefined his career, turning him into a popular action star and leading to many successful movies over the last fifteen years. However, between bigger hits like Unknown and the recent Naked Gun remake, Neeson appeared in a 2013 film that didn’t do well in theaters and is now being removed from the Peacock streaming service shortly after being added.
If you’re a Peacock subscriber hoping to watch A Million Ways to Die in the West, you don’t have much time left. The comedy, directed by Seth MacFarlane, was added to Peacock on January 1st, but it’s already scheduled to leave the streaming service soon. The movie, which didn’t do very well in theaters – earning $87 million worldwide on a $40 million budget – follows a timid cowboy who tries to find his bravery and falls in love with a new woman as he navigates the Wild West.
A Million Ways To Die in the West’s Family Guy-esque Style Fell Flat With Audiences
Despite being a comedy directed by Seth MacFarlane, A Million Ways to Die in the West didn’t perform well at the box office and received negative reviews from both critics and audiences. It earned low scores on Rotten Tomatoes – 33% from critics and 41% from viewers. Michael Compton of the Bowling Green Daily News compared the film to an extended, raunchier, and less impressive episode of Family Guy, while Felix Vasquez Jr. of Cinema Crazed stated that it unsuccessfully tried to imitate the style of Mel Brooks.
I have to admit, I was really hoping the A Million Ways to Die in the West movie would capture the hilarious, unpredictable energy of Family Guy, but it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Instead of a proper story, it felt like a bunch of random, loosely connected scenes that leaned way too much on crude jokes and swearing. Honestly, most people – critics and viewers alike – thought it dragged on way too long. That said, it’s not terrible. If you’re already a fan of Seth MacFarlane’s style of comedy and silly spoofs, and you’re willing to not overthink things, you might still find it funny and have a good time. It’s definitely one of those movies where your enjoyment will depend on what you’re expecting going in.
Where to Stream A Million Ways to Die in the West After It Leaves Peacock?
If you’re interested in watching A Million Ways to Die in the West or want to rewatch it, now’s the time. It’s currently only available on Peacock, and it might not stay there for long. Other major streaming services haven’t announced plans to add the movie next month, so it could disappear from streaming altogether. Of course, things change quickly with streaming, so it’s possible the film will become available on other platforms again in the future.
