See Hilary Duff’s Daughters Adorably Cheer Her on During Concert

Hilary Duff has two special fans watching over her.

Hilary Duff’s daughters, Banks, 7, and Mae, 4, were her cutest fans at her Toronto concert on January 24th. The concert was part of her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour, and the girls were there cheering her on with their dad, Matthew Koma.

During the concert, Banks happily sang along while her mom performed her hit song “What Dreams Are Made Of,” as captured in a video shared on Matthew’s Instagram Stories. Later in the song, Matthew also shared a sweet moment of both girls looking amazed as confetti rained down on the crowd during the last part of the chorus.

It was so heartwarming to see all the love for Hilary! It really showed how much support she has from her family, which is amazing. I know she’s mentioned before that her kids weren’t always super focused on what she does professionally, but seeing them there meant the world. As a fan, it’s especially sweet knowing she’s balancing her career with being a mom to Townes, her adorable two-year-old, and her amazing teenage son, Luca, with her ex-husband Mike Comrie.

The 38-year-old shared with TopMob News in December 2024 that while her children admire her as a person, they aren’t particularly interested in her work. She hopes that might change in the future.

And until then, Hilary noted she’s just fine letting her children take center stage.

“I try to have them be the stars of this household,” she reasoned. “That’s really important to me.”

Hilary Duff’s children are only now learning about her work, but her dedicated fans have been hoping for a tour like this for almost twenty years. After starting her tour in London earlier this month, the actress – who hasn’t toured since 2008 – said being back on stage was incredibly emotional.

Okay, so it’s been eighteen years and I’m still completely reeling from it all! Seriously, I read her post from January 20th and she just gets it. She talked about the love, the incredible fans, the whole vibe… and honestly, it just hit me so hard. She wasn’t ready for it, and neither was I! It just… found me, you know? It was like nothing I’d ever experienced. I’m obsessed, and I always will be!

She admitted she wasn’t sure how she’d arrived at this moment, but felt certain it was exactly right. It was, she said, like a dream come true—only better because it was actually happening.

The actress revealed she’s expecting her third child, and her second with husband Matthew. She playfully announced the news on October 24th, joking, “We are growing!!! Mostly me.”

Oh my gosh, my little guy is getting a tooth spacer – an expander! – and he’s starting third grade! Seriously, where does the time go?! It’s all happening way too fast, I wish I could just pause everything for a minute. I feel like I just blinked and now he’s growing up so quickly!

It feels like I’m constantly pulled in a million directions – work, childcare, helping with school from home. Some days are just overwhelming, and I honestly feel lost. But honestly, that’s perfectly fine! We need to accept that it’s okay to not always have everything under control.

Just being real, today was the first time I handled the morning school routine with both kids completely on my own. It was chaotic – juggling breastfeeding, making breakfast, getting everyone dressed and out the door, all while avoiding four dogs and remembering the fish! But I managed it, and I’m really proud of myself. Seriously, every mom who gets it done day after day is amazing – you’re total rockstars! You deserve all the praise. P.S. Laying out clothes the night before was a lifesaver, and I even had five minutes to put on makeup… until I turned around and Luca had used my lipstick as face paint!

Desperate for advice, new mom Duff reached out to her online community earlier this year about her colicky baby. She jokingly asked if anyone could share a solution, saying it felt impossible to put the baby down without crying or waking up. Despite trying everything suggested online – which mostly amounted to feeding every hour – nothing seemed to work. She ended her post with a plea for ‘magic tricks’ and a lighthearted hashtag about needing filters and a joking offer to ‘sell’ the baby. #thankGforfilters #babyforsale!!! #anytakers

It’s been a challenging but rewarding two months with my baby girl! There have been a lot of sleepless nights and she definitely lets me know when she’s unhappy, but she’s absolutely worth it, my little one,” the Texas native shared in December.

Becoming a parent completely transforms your life, shifting the focus away from yourself,” said Sutton Foster, star of Younger, in a recent interview with MyDomaine. She shared that having children has given her incredible patience and brought a lot of happiness. If she could go back in time, she wishes she’d known just how little sleep she’d get. “I would have gotten as much sleep as possible beforehand – like a bear preparing for hibernation!” she joked.

I’m not one for getting all dolled up much anymore, so I snapped a quick selfie just to remember what it felt like! But honestly, what I really want to remember is this crazy, beautiful season of life with my little one – the spit-up, the sweatpants, and all the days spent at home. It feels so full right now, but I know deep down it’s fleeting and will pass by way too fast. It’s a phase I want to savor, even in the chaos! ❤️

In a recent interview with TopMob News, Duff admitted she doesn’t always manage to juggle everything perfectly, but she always tries her best. She explained that being a mother comes first, and her son is always her main focus. When considering new projects, she asks herself if she can realistically handle them while still giving her son the attention he needs.

Oh my gosh, she just gets it, you know? She was talking about how pregnancy totally changes you, like, it actually prepares you for being a mom, even though you can’t even imagine what’s coming! And it’s not just the hard stuff, she said it’s amazing – she felt like her whole life was expanding in a way she never thought possible! It’s seriously changed her, teaching her to be so much more patient and to really live in the moment, to not let life just rush by. I feel like she’s describing exactly what it means to become a mother, it’s just…beautiful.

Talking about being a parent, Duff said it’s natural to worry. He explained that everyone wants the best for their kids, but things don’t always go as planned. Despite the challenges, he feels incredibly lucky and says it’s a lot of fun.

In July 2018, while expecting her daughter Banks, the actress shared a candid post on Instagram about the realities of pregnancy. Along with a photo of her baby bump, she wrote about the physical challenges, saying pregnancy was difficult and praising all mothers who make it look easy. She described dealing with a changing body, sleepless nights, and the struggle to adjust to these changes. Ultimately, she celebrated the strength and beauty of women, reminding herself and others that they are capable of handling this incredible, yet challenging, journey.

Becoming a mother has been the best thing in my life, and I’m thankful for it every single day,” Hilary Duff shared in a 2017 Mother’s Day post. “Being a mom is a never-ending job, but it’s incredibly fulfilling! ❤️❤️

Navigating co-parenting and blending families requires a gentle approach, according to Hilary Duff. Speaking with Parents.com, she explained that introducing new dynamics can be challenging, but it’s important to follow what feels right for your family. She emphasized that parents’ own needs are just as important as their children’s, a lesson she learned through her own experiences. Duff feels fortunate to have a positive relationship with her son Luca’s father and intentionally avoided rushing into any major life changes, like new relationships or having another child. She believes taking things slowly was best for both of them, and stresses the importance of carefully considering what you say.

Hilary Duff received a touching poem from her ‘Younger’ co-star, Peter Hermann (who plays Charles), during a difficult time. She often has to be away from her son, Luca, for extended periods while filming, and he gave her the poem when she was really missing him. She says the last four lines still make her cry. Duff shared that being a mother is the best thing that’s ever happened to her, filled with both joy and challenges, and has expanded her heart in ways she never imagined. She believes other parents will connect with the poem as deeply as she does. ❤️

Hilary Duff explained that parenting with her partner, Matthew Koma, isn’t a perfectly equal split of responsibilities. She told Parents.com that mothers naturally take on more, and that’s just a reality most moms understand. While she appreciates Matthew’s help and knows he’ll be a great dad, she takes the lead, especially in the beginning. She believes he supports her by contributing in other ways, like handling tasks around the house, to balance things out.

I often struggle with feeling guilty or conflicted. When I wasn’t working, I initially worried about being unproductive, but I realized that was silly. As a parent, it’s okay to not be constantly busy. It’s actually been really freeing to not have to answer to anyone else’s demands, except for my son Luca’s, of course! These days, I feel like his personal driver.

Hilary Duff often gets comments like, ‘It must be great to share parenting responsibilities!’ but she’s quick to point out that divorce is really difficult. She told Redbook in 2017 that while it was awful at first, co-parenting with her ex-husband, Mike Comrie, has become routine. She admits it is nice to have breaks – she remembers one particularly tough stretch where she had their son, Luca, all to herself for weeks. When Mike returned from a trip, she happily handed Luca over, saying, ‘He’s all yours!’

After sharing a cute photo from Disneyland in 2016, Duff responded to criticism she received for kissing her son, Luca, on the lips. She wrote on Instagram, “If you think a kiss on the lips with my four-year-old is wrong, please unfollow me – your views are misguided and judgmental.”

Hilary Duff shared in 2015 with Entertainment Tonight that even while expecting, parents often face criticism. She described becoming a mother as a beautiful and wonderful experience, but also surprisingly lonely.
