10 Spider-Man Characters We Want To Join the MCU After Game-Changing New Marvel Sony Rumor

Exciting rumors suggest Sony and Marvel are discussing greater collaboration, potentially bringing Spider-Man characters into more Marvel movies and shows. Currently, Sony only allows Marvel to use these characters in Spider-Man films they make together. But the latest reports hint that Sony might now be willing to share these characters across the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could be a major development for fans. This collaboration could also benefit Sony, as Marvel Studios is currently experiencing more success than Sony at the box office.

Here are 10 Spider-Man characters we want to see Sony share with Marvel in the future.

10) Venom

Sony’s Venom movies have been surprisingly successful, especially considering they don’t feature Spider-Man. While the first film was a hit with both audiences and critics, the sequels received more mixed reviews. Tom Hardy’s performance as Eddie Brock has been consistently praised, and many fans hoped to see Venom finally battle Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even if that crossover doesn’t happen, fans would love to see Marvel explore Venom or another related symbiote character, like Agent Venom, in a bigger way.

9) Silver Sable

Before the disappointing performance of Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter, Sony was developing a film centered around the character Silver Sable. Silver Sable, a mercenary from the fictional country of Symkaria who primarily tracks down war criminals, could be a good fit for the Marvel Disney+ universe. Her more grounded, street-level style of work would allow her to easily appear alongside characters like Daredevil or Punisher, should Marvel choose to include her.

8) Black Cat

Sony initially planned to introduce Black Cat in Amazing Spider-Man 2 by featuring Felicity Jones as Felicia, an Oscorp employee rumored to be the character. The idea was that she was secretly planning to steal from the company as Black Cat. Unfortunately, the film series ended, leaving that storyline unfinished. Black Cat was also intended to appear in a separate Silver Sable movie, but that project was canceled. Now, fans are eager to see her included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if she isn’t part of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel should find another way to incorporate her into their stories.

7) Mister Negative

Mister Negative is a powerful villain who could fit into any superhero movie, but Sony owns the rights to his character because of his ties to Spider-Man. There’s a lot of talk that he’ll appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as part of a gang war storyline, alongside villains like Tombstone and Scorpion. Even if he doesn’t show up in that film, Mister Negative is too compelling a character to be used only once. He’d make a fantastic villain for many different heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

6) Sandman

Sandman is a Spider-Man enemy who’s most compelling when he tries to be a good guy. One particularly well-regarded storyline featured him joining the Avengers, with Captain America’s support, in an effort to prove he could change. Luckily, Thomas Haden Church already nailed the role in the Spider-Man films, and bringing him back for a story about redemption – perhaps as part of the Thunderbolts team – would be a fantastic move.

5) Norman Osborn

Norman Osborn has evolved far beyond being just a side character in Spider-Man’s stories. Many fans consider his current storyline – where he’s genuinely trying to help Spider-Man and atone for his past mistakes after a life-changing experience – to be his best yet. However, his time leading HAMMER after dismantling SHIELD was also a high point. Given his hunger for power and the world’s distrust of superheroes, Norman Osborn could easily become a major villain in future Marvel storylines.

4) Doctor Octopus

Doctor Octopus is often considered Spider-Man’s most formidable enemy, but in recent years, he’s also become a surprisingly strong ally. The Superior Spider-Man storyline, where Doc Ock inhabited Peter Parker’s body, is widely regarded as one of the best Spider-Man stories ever told. While this plot could work well in a future movie, Doc Ock is too important a Marvel villain to simply wait for Spider-Man to need him. He’d make a great antagonist for many other heroes, or even a compelling antihero himself.

3) Kraven the Hunter

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter movie didn’t perform well with critics or at the box office. While it wasn’t a terrible film, it wasn’t particularly memorable, which is a shame given how great the character of Kraven can be. The story Kraven’s Last Hunt is considered one of the best Spider-Man tales, and would have been better suited as part of a Spider-Man movie instead of a standalone film. Despite this, Kraven remains a compelling villain – his obsession with hunting could make him a great addition to a Black Panther movie, or a team-up film with characters like Silver Sable and Black Cat. Ultimately, the Marvel Cinematic Universe could really revitalize the character.

2) Spider-Woman

As a movie critic, I’ve always felt Spider-Woman is a massively underutilized character with huge potential, and she’d be a fantastic fit for the MCU – even without crossing paths with Peter Parker. She’s so much more than just a ‘Spider-Person’; she’s a seasoned Avenger who could instantly elevate Sam Wilson’s new team. Plus, her background as a super spy opens up a ton of possibilities within the MCU’s world of espionage. And let’s not forget her close friendship with Jessica Jones – that connection alone could seamlessly integrate her into the Disney+ universe. Honestly, it’s about time Marvel brought Spider-Woman into the fold.

1) Miles Morales

The Spider-Verse animated films are incredibly popular, and the story will conclude just before the events of The Avengers: Secret Wars. This creates a great opportunity for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to introduce Miles Morales into live-action during Secret Wars. If successful, Miles could then become a central figure in the MCU’s future, particularly in the revamped universe planned for Phase 7. A team-up with characters like Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, and Wiccan – a new version of the Champions – would be ideal. While Miles was once a risk, his popularity now makes him a sure bet for success within the MCU.
