Amazon’s Long-Awaited Sci-Fi Revival Gets Major Update

Great news for science fiction fans: production is officially starting on the highly anticipated series based on a beloved franchise! While filming will take place in various locations around the globe, London will be the primary filming location, making it the fourth live-action installment in the series. As announced last November, Amazon and MGM Studios are producing the show, and it will be available to stream worldwide on Prime Video.

The recent news likely refers to the new Stargate project. Information shared by GateWorld aligns with comments made by creator and producer Martin Gero regarding the show’s development timeline. Gero previously told GateWorld that the writing process would begin later in the year and the entire project would likely take around two years to complete, potentially a bit more or less. He cautioned fans that it would be a while before the finished series is released.

When Can Fans Potentially Expect More Stargate?

The first season of the new series is expected to take about two years to make before it debuts on Prime Video. Filming is currently scheduled to continue through 2027, followed by editing and the addition of visual effects. Joseph Mallozzi, a consulting producer, has confirmed that the writing team is working hard in Los Angeles, having started two weeks ago. James W. Skotchdopole, whose credits include popular projects like Fallout, The Revenant, and Django Unchained, has also joined the team, though his specific job hasn’t been announced yet.

The new Stargate series doesn’t have a final title yet, but it will be produced by Safehouse Pictures, the studio headed by executive producers Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell. Quinn’s House Productions, Electric Entertainment, Centropolis Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios are also involved in the production.
