A popular dark fantasy movie series is currently a hit on HBO Max. Streaming services like HBO Max, Netflix, and Prime Video regularly add new content, and popular franchises often move between these services. Unless a streaming service owns a franchise—like Netflix with its show Wednesday—these series tend to reappear on different platforms each year. When they do, fans often revisit these familiar favorites.
Recently, all five Twilight Saga movies became popular on HBO Max. According to FlixPatrol, the first Twilight film is now the third most-watched movie on the platform, following the new releases The Smashing Machine and One Battle After Another. The Twilight Saga: New Moon is sixth, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is ninth, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse rounds out the top ten.
The Twilight Saga Remains Popular as the Franchise Reboot In Works

The continued popularity of The Twilight Saga is a positive sign for the upcoming animated Twilight reboot on Netflix. This new series will retell the story, but this time from Edward Cullen’s perspective, based on Stephenie Meyer’s 2020 novel Midnight Sun.
Meyer is the executive producer of the upcoming series, Midnight Son, with Sinead Daly (known for Tell Me Lies and The Walking Dead: World Beyond) as the writer. The series will expand on the original story, including new scenes showing what happened when Edward was away. Netflix hasn’t announced a release date yet. If Midnight Son does well, there’s a possibility of further reboots or adaptations in the future.
Given the success of recent adaptations like the continuing Hunger Games prequels, the upcoming decade-long Harry Potter series on HBO Max, and the popular Percy Jackson show on Disney+, a Twilight reboot on streaming could be very successful. The fact that the original Twilight films are already performing well on HBO Max shows there’s still a large audience interested in the story’s dark, romantic vampire themes.
