I was pretty disappointed to hear the latest news about the future of My Dress-Up Darling. It looks like fans will be waiting a long time for a potential Season 3. The second season finally arrived last year after a few years’ wait, but unfortunately, we didn’t get any hints about a third season when it ended. It actually felt like the anime concluded the story, especially compared to how things are going in the manga.
During a recent interview, the team behind the anime My Dress-Up Darling discussed their work on the second season. However, producer Shota Umehara stated that there are currently no plans for a third season. He explained that they haven’t started planning anything for a potential third season, but they would like to make one if the opportunity arises.
My Dress-Up Darling Season 3 Isn’t Happening Anytime Soon
Umehara explained that while the production is currently starting from scratch, he’s eager to create another season once everything is ready. He emphasized his commitment to quality, saying he wants to deliver a polished anime and express his thanks to the audience. He also hopes fans will continue to support the series financially, as that’s crucial for its future development. Specifically, he’d be thrilled if Season 2 encourages new viewers to watch the anime or read the manga, as continued viewership and purchases are essential for the series to thrive as a business.
More than anything, I’m thrilled viewers are enjoying the work and supporting it by purchasing merchandise. It’s incredibly rewarding to see people appreciate it enough to spend their money. I used to believe that quality work automatically led to happiness and sales, but with experience, I’ve realized there’s something truly special about connecting with an audience like this, and I’m very grateful for their support.
Will My Dress-Up Darling Return for Season 3
Currently, it doesn’t look like a third season of My Dress-Up Darling is planned. The team behind the show explained that the final episode was created in close collaboration with the manga’s author, Shinichi Fukuda, as both the anime and manga were nearing their conclusions. According to producer Umehara, the director, Shinohara, ultimately made the creative decision on how to end Marin and Gojo’s story, even considering different ideas.
The anime’s ending felt complete, suggesting there likely won’t be a third season. While the manga concluded with Marin and Gojo moving forward, it could be a while before the anime adapts that ending, if ever.
