Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1.
The first four episodes of Bridgerton Season 4 are now available on Netflix, and fans are already getting clues about the main storyline. Like previous seasons, this season focuses primarily on the love life of one member of the Bridgerton family, while still including other developing stories.
I’m completely captivated by this season of Bridgerton! It’s all about Benedict, the second eldest sibling, and his story is so romantic. After a stunning masquerade ball, he meets this incredibly alluring woman – the ‘Lady in Silver’ – and he’s instantly smitten. Now, he’s on a quest to find her, even though he never saw her face or learned her name. It’s such a compelling mystery!
Instead of finding the woman he’s looking for, Benedict unexpectedly meets and falls for a maid named Sophie Baek. With the second part of the season still about a month away, the storyline is pretty predictable – it’s a classic romance, and a very familiar one at that.
Bridgerton Season 4 Is A Cinderella Story

With a cruel stepmother, Araminta, and two mean stepsisters, Rosamund and Posy, and being forced to work as their maid, the fourth season of Bridgerton is essentially a retelling of the Cinderella story.
I see so much of Cinderella in Sophie’s story! She didn’t have magic or a fairy godmother to get to the ball, but just like Cinderella, she had one incredible night with someone special – Benedict, in her case. He’s now desperately trying to find her, which totally feels like that classic fairytale search. Instead of a glass slipper, it’s a monogrammed glove, but the heart of the story – finding your person – is exactly the same!
It’s no secret that Bridgerton draws inspiration from historical events, as the show, based on Julia Quinn’s novels, makes that clear. What’s really intriguing is how this connection might impact the second part of Bridgerton Season 4, particularly the future of Benedict and Sophie’s relationship.
Will Benedict And Sophie Get A Happily Ever After?
LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX
The first part of Bridgerton Season 4 ended with Sophie and Benedict facing a difficult situation. Benedict, feeling bound by societal rules, proposed they be lovers instead of husband and wife. However, Sophie—who knows what it’s like to be considered an outsider—refused, even though she loves him, because she won’t accept being treated as a mistress.
Adding to the drama, Sophie’s unkind stepmother, Araminta, has moved close to the Bridgerton family home where Sophie works, which likely means trouble for her. Despite this, most viewers still expect Sophie and Benedict to end up happily together.
Bridgerton is known for giving its characters happy endings. While the show isn’t afraid to show hardship – like when Edmund Bridgerton passed away – it generally avoids separating couples who are clearly meant to be together.
As a fan of the books, I was pleased to see Season 4 mostly sticking to the original story, particularly the one it’s based on, An Offer from a Gentleman. And if you read that book, you’ll know Sophie and Benedict do end up together. But what really got me excited? The season plays out like a classic Cinderella story, and that narrative structure feels incredibly promising for their romance.
Even though things seem difficult for Benedict and Sophie right now, their story shares similarities with Cinderella, suggesting they’re ultimately destined for a happy ending—they might just face a few more challenges along the way.
