A Ubisoft game originally released for the Wii U back in 2013 has quietly launched on the Nintendo Switch, 13 years later. While it was also available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC at the time, many Nintendo fans may not even remember it – or have never heard of it – as it wasn’t a widely known title.
Just announced, Cloudberry Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch! While there aren’t plans for a version specifically for the next-generation Switch, it will be playable on the new console through backward compatibility. This surprise release follows a return on PlayStation 4 and 5 in December 2025, which some may have missed. The Switch version is identical to the PS4 and PS5 versions – it’s a port, not a remake or remaster – though it does feature improved resolution.
13-Year-Old Ubisoft Game
If you’re unfamiliar with Cloudberry Kingdom, it was originally created by Pwnee Studios, a company that has since closed down, and published by Ubisoft. However, Ubisoft no longer seems to hold the publishing rights; this new release is being handled by RedoApps Limited instead.
The game is a classic platformer where you control Bob, the hero of Cloudberry Kingdom. He’s on a quest to rescue his home from the villainous King Kobbler, and, of course, also needs to save a princess!
The game has been available on the PlayStation Store since late last year and currently costs $14.99 there. We expect it to be priced similarly on the Nintendo eShop. PlayStation 4 and 5 players have given it a very positive rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
It’s unusual for a game to be re-released without any plans for a follow-up or new installment, and currently, there’s been no announcement of that happening. However, if this re-release proves successful, a sequel might become a possibility.
