The hugely popular musical is coming back to London’s West End in 2027, marking its return after over ten years.
The acclaimed musical Miss Saigon, created by Boublil and Schönberg, will return to London’s Prince Edward Theatre for a short season in May 2027.
Cameron Mackintosh and Michael Harrison are bringing the popular musical back to London after a successful tour across the UK and Ireland that began last year.
In a recent statement, Mackintosh expressed his excitement about the fantastic reaction to their newest production of Miss Saigon (his third since the show debuted 37 years ago). He noted that the musical feels surprisingly modern and meaningful to audiences and critics alike.
It’s quite an accomplishment for a rare musical based on true history, as so few productions of this type have really resonated with audiences.

We aimed to revitalize the show by shifting away from its initial, theatrical ‘Madame Butterfly’ style and returning to the raw, dramatic energy and music of the 1970s that originally inspired it.
The show’s powerful music still captures its grand scope and emotional depth. Now, 50 years after the story’s setting during the Fall of Saigon, the struggles of its characters – innocent people simply trying to survive – feel even more heartbreaking and relevant, as conflict continues to affect so many around the world.

Inspired by the classic opera Madame Butterfly, Miss Saigon premiered on Broadway in 1991. The musical is set during the final days of the Vietnam War and tells the story of Kim, a 17-year-old woman working in a bar in Saigon. She falls in love with an American soldier named Chris, but their relationship is destroyed when Saigon falls.
The original Broadway show ran for almost ten years and has since been seen in 33 countries, translated into 15 languages.
Tickets will be available in March 2026, and we’ll share more details about the cast and show soon.
