Pearl Abyss’s open-world action RPG, Crimson Desert, is incredibly vast. According to marketing expert Will Powers, the main story is actually a relatively small part of everything the game has to offer. This raises the question: will there be enough content to keep players engaged long-term, especially those who tend to play for extended periods?
Right now, our main priority is the launch itself. We’ve created a lot of content, and I encourage people to explore it all – there’s a ton to dive into! I personally love experiencing everything a game has to offer, and players will definitely find plenty to keep them busy. If there’s enough interest after launch, we’ll definitely consider adding more content and support.
We haven’t officially revealed plans for content after the game launches, so I can’t make any promises right now. However, looking at how we’ve consistently updated Black Desert for over a decade – eleven years of weekly updates since it first launched in Korea – if players are still interested, I’m confident the team will find ways to keep supporting the game.
The base game already offers plenty to do. Players will eventually team up with two other Greymane allies who become playable, each with their own distinct way of playing. Plus, there are still secrets to uncover, unfinished side quests, and a huge world just waiting to be explored at your own pace.
If the game doesn’t have them initially, Pearl Abyss could add features like New Game+ and more characters to play. They might also introduce new activities. However, it seems likely they’re waiting to see how players and critics react to the game before deciding how much effort to put into updates and new content after launch.
We’ll share more information as soon as it’s available, so keep an eye out for updates. Crimson Desert will be released on March 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and development is now complete, as it has already gone gold.
